CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa Dishes On New Drama With Cha Tae Hyun + What Makes It So Unique

Nov 23, 2022

CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa has revealed what viewers can look forward to in his upcoming drama “Brain Cooperation” (literal translation)!

“Brain Cooperation” is a new brain science-themed comedy-mystery drama about two men who can’t stand each other, but who must work together to solve a crime case involving a rare brain disease. Jung Yong Hwa still star as neuroscientist Shin Ha Ru, who possesses an exceptionally sharp brain, while Cha Tae Hyun will play the too-kind-for-his-own-good detective Geum Myung Se, who has the brain of a pushover.

A world-renowned neuroscientist who is handsome, well-spoken, and incredibly intelligent, Shin Ha Ru is willing to resort to any means necessary when it comes to furthering his research of the brain. However, even though he seems to have everything going for him, there is one thing the frosty and cold-hearted Shin Ha Ru lacks: people skills. As a result, when he teams up with the selfless and altruistic Geum Myung Se, the two polar opposites clash at every turn.

Recalling his excitement at being offered the role of Shin Ha Ru, Jung Yong Hwa shared, “Because the opportunity to play a professional in a script that was really fun and charming came my way, I happily accepted.”

As for how he prepared for the role, the actor-singer revealed, “Since Shin Ha Ru is an irritable and prickly character, I lost weight and made an effort to bring his sharp and prickly side to the forefront visually as well.”

In terms of what sets “Brain Cooperation” apart from other dramas in its genre, Jung Yong Hwa noted, “There are lots of crime-solving and mystery dramas, but I think this is the first drama that tackles brain science in a fun and easy-to-understand way.”

He went on to add, “The cases [in the drama] are really great, and the story is full of fun and interesting subject matter, so please give it lots of love and interest.”

“Brain Cooperation” will premiere on January 2, 2023 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
