Oct 15, 2022

May It Please the Court episode 7 starts with Si-baek giving Jae-ho the death stare while waiting in traffic. As soon as he realises that Si-baek is following him, he starts to panic and drives off, closely followed by Si-baek. Jae-ho successfully runs off after a lengthy case sequence, and when Si-baek comes back home, he finds Chak-hee walking down the road alone.

Chak-hee, meanwhile, looks rather heartbroken after the revelations of the last episode, which Si-baek, too, understands. The next morning, a concerned Si-baek asks her whether something is wrong, and she simply asks him to drop her off at Seonggang Hospital because she needs to meet the defendant. Si-baek tries to make jokes to lighten up the mood, but Chak-hee isn’t having any of it and seems rather heartbroken.

At the hospital, she meets Yoon-jung and the two have a heart-to-heart conversation about the lawsuit 8 years ago and how she was involved in it. She promises to file a retrial if she’s comfortable with it and also tells her that she will find proof, whatever it takes. Yoon-jung, however, tells her to do as she pleases, just as she did 8 years ago.

Meanwhile, Gi-do faces issues on his path to creating the perfect image before the assembly elections. As his daughter expresses confusion regarding whether or not his father will really become an assemblyman, Gi-do learns that the news of Cho Hyun-sik paying illegal campaign funds to him or news of his daughter’s antics have reached some very important people and things aren’t looking good for him.

Meanwhile, Chak-hee feels heartbroken even further as she walks back home that night and ends up having dinner with Chi-sik and Si-baek that night on the former’s late wife’s birthday. Turns out, Chi-sik and Si-baek are brothers and that Chi-sik’s wife was murdered. And also – this isn’t his wife’s birthday; it’s her death anniversary. An all-around heartbreaking revelation for everyone, and as Si-baek shares the story with Chak-hee, both of them share a good cry together.

That night, as Chi-sik cries for his dead wife the next morning, Gi-do goes to Chi-sik’s wife’s grave and asks her to keep an eye on her, talking to her as if they share a romantic connection. Although the tears that Gi-do shares turn out to be a publicity stunt, he asks Dae-hyeon to make sure that the journalists edit the picture so that no one can make out the grave’s location and tells him upon enquiring that she’s someone he was in love with.

As Jae-ho’s starts to get more and more frustrated with the predicament he is in, Chak-hee works hard to prove Yoon-jung’s innocence and Gi-do wonders who could’ve come to his lover’s grave and left flowers for her. On the other hand, Si-baek asks Yoon Do-chang to pay 300 million won for Jun-woo and Na-eun and reminds him that, with his father dead, Jangsan won’t bother with him anymore. The intimidation works on Do-chang and makes the police more confused regarding Si-baek’s motives.

Later on, Byung-chun goes to meet Gi-do at his party office and puts forth his concerns regarding the election. However, Gi-do assures him that things will go well and that he never starts a fight that he can’t win. Seeing his son’s determination, he wishes him all the best and gives him some sound advice about skeletons in the closet.

Meanwhile, Si-baek gets a visit from Kyung-jin, who asks him to come to the station later on and then sneakily collects his used coffee cup, probably for DNA and prints. At the hospital, Si-baek meets Chak-hee and Yoon-jung, and he assures her later on that she’s a good person and didn’t cause Yoon-jung’s misfortune 8 years ago. The two share some sweet banter and then go home together, now in a much better mood.

The next day, Chak-hee goes out to defend Yoon-jung and thanks to both of their logical and sound requests, they are able to put their points across to the judge, who seems to believe them. Outside the courthouse, Chak-hee assures her that she will file for a retrial because if they don’t, it would be unfair to Yoon-jung, regardless of whether they win or lose. On the other hand, Kyung-jil pays a visit to Gi-do and collects his cup as well.

That night, Gi-do gets Mr Park under control thanks to a little bit of blackmail, much to Ha-ran frustration. The next day, Chak-hee makes up the courage to go to Jangsan and sneaks her way into the office to get her files – she strong-arms an intern into handing the files over to her and gets out before anyone can get a hold of her.

Well, she does come across Kyung-jil on her way out, who forces her to go out for coffee with her and brings up the fact that she used to get blackout drunk and asks her how much she remembers about the night she spent with Si-baek. She threatens Chak-hee that she might be in trouble if her statement is proven to be false, but Chak-hee refuses to budge. Unfortunately, the incident of Si-baek following Jae-ho and threatening him makes her rather concerned.

That night, Jae-ho’s corner for Dong-pil makes him ask Jae-geun to keep an eye on him, and he further asks the officer to put a tail on Gi-do as well. Unfortunately for him, however, right afterwards, he gets murdered by the murderer wearing black.

May It Please the Court Episode 7 Review

Well, a rather interesting and emotional episode – and this one truly made me think about what is going on and who the killer is. I think the last 6 episodes have been quite tame, and although the newest addition isn’t anything mind-blowing, I am still left to wonder what happened to Chi-sik’s wife and how she is Gi-do’s first love.
