'Hotel Del Luna' most watched TV series on weekend primetime

"Hotel Del Luna" has garnered high viewership ratings.

tVN's fantasy-romance series "Hotel Del Luna" was the most watched program in the 9-10 p.m. prime timeslot on Saturday and Sunday.

The most recent episode on Aug. 3 recorded a viewership of 9.6 percent, outperforming rival programs in the highly competitive timeslot for four straight weeks.

The 16-part series got off to a good start on July 13 with its first episode recording 7.3 percent viewership.

Singer-actress IU and actor Yeo Jin-goo star in the drama. The series is set in a hotel, where only ghosts can stay. IU plays Jang Man-wol, the hotel's CEO, while Yeo appears as assistant manager Goo Chang-seong.

In Saturday's episode, Jang's rival Lee Mi-ra appeared, heightening the on-screen tension.

The original story was written by the so-called "Hong sisters" ― Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran ― who also wrote several hit dramas including "The Greatest Love" and "Master's Sun."

The series ends in September.
