A Shop for Killers (2024) K Drama Episode 2

Jan 17, 2024

The episode starts with Min Hye getting ready to gun Ji An down while we jump to Ji An’s grandmother’s funeral And how her relationship with him started. At the funeral, we see Lee Seong Jo arriving at the funeral home to pay respect And ask for him. Later that night, Ji An talks to Jin Man about dying, And he advises her to face her fears head on. Just then, he gets a mysterious phone call and rushes to the funeral home, but not before asking Ji An to stay at home and giving “his friend” a riddle before opening the door.

Unfortunately, at one point, An assassin does find his way inside the house, but before he can do anything, a Man pulls him outside And gets rid of him. The guy turns south to be Jin Man’s actual friend who has come to get Ji An from the house. He tells her the answer to the riddle but isn’t able to rescue her because the next assassin kills him. Ji An makes a heroic escape as the other assassins make a run after her, only for her to get hit by a truck.

That night, the assassins make their way to the hospital, And Ji An escapes once more And makes her way to the morgue. As the killer stalks her, she lies inside one of the vaults holding her mother’s dead body. Just as he’s about to find her, Jin Man thankfully makes his way to her and gets rid of the assassins. He finds the little girl sleeping while hugging her dead mother and takes her away.

A month later, they move somewhere else and start life afresh, but Ji An starts to suffer from aphasia And dissociative amnesia from the trauma of losing her parents And escaping from assassins. Jin Man is concerned for her, in spite of telling her that he can’t do the things her parents did for her. He slaps himself violently out of guilt for what he has done to his niece.

At school, too, she gets bullied but is still unable to say anything, And Jeong Min saves her from getting hurt. Although their lives start off to a rocky start, they find a rhythm with each other as Jin Man tries to let his niece come out of her hurdles on her own. One day, after being locked under the school by her bullies, she finally finds her voice after getting scared by her nightmares And runs right into Jin Man, tearfully asking him why he didn’t come right back like he had promised. Jin Man apologises to her, and the two share a meal together for the first time later on.

In the present, Min Hye knocks on the door, and the two of them have a tense conversation. She leaves suddenly, however, she and Jeong Min go down the rabbit hole of Jin Man’s website, ending in the realisation that the different codes must protect her and Jin Man in the event that anyone tries to attack them. Before she can get an idea about what is happening, however, the house is attacked. Fortunately for them, everything is bulletproof, so they are safe inside the house for the time being… until the drones start throwing bombs on the glass.

The windows give in, and the drones rush into the house, shooting them. As Jeong Min takes cover inside the bulletproof wardrobe, Ji An takes a drone down with a slingshot, saving her friend from a very brutal death.

A group of veteran warriors get together, among them Lee Seong Jo, and they all look rather happy as they try to murder a young girl. It’s clear that there has been some conspiracy to kill the uncle and niece. And now, capturing or killing Ji An would bring with it a fat bonus to anyone who gets the Job done.

A Shop For Killers Episode 2 Review

The second episode mostly takes place in the past, and we hardly progress the present storyline. Thus, we are little to no further from learning whether or not Ji An gets out of her house alive. That being said, we get an emotional backstory that will pull at your heartstrings, And the scene at the morgue is probably a tearjerker. Ahn Se bin, who plays the young Ji An, is exceptionally good at portraying her character’s fears and strengths. It’s great to watch her in every scene, and she made me genuinely care for little Ji An, whose instincts are rather impressive.

I also enjoyed the shop scene and what the tags would mean for upcoming episodes. The episode leaves us with many questions that I wish it would’ve answered, at least a few, but with the rather odd things that the series is deciding to focus on for extended periods of time, I wonder whether there isn’t much to say for them. Either way, I always appreciate character backstories, they help us immerse into the storyline further.
