Dec 17, 2021

KBS’s upcoming drama “Moonshine” has released a relationship chart ahead of the premiere!

“Moonshine” is set in the Joseon era during the time when prohibition laws were at their strongest. Yoo Seung Ho stars as Nam Young, Joseon’s greatest inspector who is known for living a very principled life, and Hyeri stars as Kang Ro Seo, a struggling aristocrat who starts making illegal alcohol in order to support her family.

As the main characters, Nam Young and Kang Ro Seo stand at the center of the relationship chart. Despite being an illegal alcohol maker and inspector, the two are connected with a red line (love/affection). Interestingly, Kang Ro Seo also has a red line with Lee Pyo (played by Byun Woo Seok), the alcoholic crown prince. Lee Pyo also has a red line with noblewoman Han Ae Jin (played by Kang Mina). Nam Young has a dotted line connection to Han Ae Jin, which means that their relationship will change.

These four principal characters are connected to their large families and a complicated network of supporters and opponents.

Nam Young has an adopted father, Nam Tae Ho (Im Chul Hyung), and works with his servant Choon Gae (Kim Ki Bang). Other members of the Saheonbu, Joseon’s office of the inspector-general, include Hwang Ga (Im Won Hee), an assistant inspector, and Kim Suk Won (Lee Shi Hoon), an inspector.

Lee Pyo is the son of the king (Jung Sung Il) and concubine Kyung Bin of the Lee clan (An Si Ha), and he has a half-brother, former crown prince Sung Hyun, who is not pictured. Eol Dong (Kim Min Ho) is the eunuch in charge of serving Lee Pyo. Through his mother, Lee Pyo has a powerful uncle, Lee Si Heum (Choi Won Young), who is the chief royal secretary. Lee Si Heum and the king are allies, and both are in conflict with the Yeonguijeong (one of the three heads of cabinet) Yeon Jo Moon (Jang Gwang). Yeon Jo Moon is the grandfather of Queen Yeon (Byun Seo Yun), the king’s wife. Other members of the palace include Yeon Chae Bong (Han Soo Hyun), the general of training, and Yeon Ki Bong (Kim Jae Rok), the Minister of the Interior. Judging by their surnames, they all belong to the queen’s powerful family. Jo Hee Bo (Shin Hyun Jong) is the Jwauijeong, another of the three heads of cabinet. Meanwhile, Han Ae Jin is the daughter of the Minister of War.

On Kang Ro Seo’s side, she works with medical worker Chun Geum (Seo Ye Hwa), who has an affectionate connection to Nam Young’s servant Choon Gae. Kang Hae Soo (Bae Yoo Ram) is Kang Ro Seo’s older brother, and they are the children of the late Kang Eui Chan, nicknamed the “Namsan Tiger.” She is in conflict with Gye Sang Mok (Hong Ahn Pyo) of the Walja class (minor city official), who is allied with Shim Heon (Moon You Kang), an illegal alcohol seller who is conflict with both Kang Ro Seo and Nam Young. Shim Heon has a potential conflict relationship with gisaeng (courtesan) Woon Shim (Park Ah In), who is curious about Kang Ro Seo. Tae Sun (Lee Ki Taek) is a mysterious person who is described as the right hand of Shim Heon. Other members of the Saemal Village include Dae Mo, Mak San, and Kang San.
