A former girl group member-turned-actress returned to her roots on the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer”!

During the October 29 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants stepped up to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the first match-up of Round 1, “Red Riding Hood” and “Wolf” faced off with a duet version of Kim Jong Seo’s “Beautiful Restriction.”

After the performance, while the celebrity panelists were trying to guess the identities of the two masked singers, Kim Gura noted that Rainbow’s Jisook was unusually silent. When he asked her about it, Jisook remarked with a laugh, “I think [Red Riding Hood] is someone I know. I could tell from her hand gestures… hearing her voice as she started the chorus with a gesture, I figured out exactly who she was.”

Although Red Riding Hood earned praise for her warm and gorgeous vocal tone, she ultimately lost the round to her opponent. She then remained on stage to perform a charming cover of Park Ji Yoon’s “I’m in Love,” taking her mask off halfway through the song to reveal her identity.

Sure enough, Red Riding Hood turned out to be none other than Jisook’s bandmate Oh Seung Ah, who debuted as a member of Rainbow before becoming an actress.

Oh Seung Ah went on to reveal that this was her first time singing on stage in three years—and that even though the experience had been nerve-racking, she’d also enjoyed it.

When asked about the differences between life as an idol and life as an actress, Oh Seung Ah shared, “When I was promoting as an idol, it was mostly people in their teens and twenties that recognized me. But now, I’ve been starring in a lot of weekday dramas [which are popular among an older demographic], so even though people in their twenties might not know me, a lot of older people now recognize me and like me.”
