On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” the identity of “Fountain Pen” was revealed!

During the June 11 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants stepped up to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the first match-up of Round 1, “Fountain Pen” and “Ink” went head-to-head with a duet version of UN’s famous summer hit “Wave.”

After their performance, the two contestants also teamed up for a special dance cover of NewJeans’ “Hype Boy.”

First, the masked singers danced to the song as if their “batteries” were drained and running low, before dancing it again more energetically once they had been “recharged.”

Although both contestants stole the audience’s hearts, it was ultimately Ink that moved on to the next round with 58 votes to Fountain Pen’s 41.

Fountain Pen then went on to perform a charming rendition of 10cm’s popular song “Phonecert,” taking off his mask halfway through to reveal his identity. To the crowd’s surprise, the masked singer turned out to be MIRAE’s Son Dong Pyo, who first debuted as a member of the “Produce X 101” project group X1 in 2019.

Later, Son Dong Pyo shared that there was a specific title he hoped to earn one day.

“It’s been my wish since childhood to be known as ‘the nation’s younger brother,'” revealed the idol. “Someone who seems like you could find him anywhere, like he’d be right next door—but who actually isn’t.”

He went on to add, “On variety programs, I’ve been showing a lot of my playful and bubbly side. But honestly, I’m someone who really loves performing on stage as well. So I want to show more of myself singing and dancing on stage in the future, and I hope to become an artist who can provide lots of strength to many people and touch their hearts.”
