Tiffany on Using Makeup: “Don’t Take It As A Chore”

Nov 20, 2018

On November 8, Allure magazine published an online article with an interview featuring Tiffany. The interview covers a wide range of topics, including Tiffany’s thoughts on K-beauty products, her “Teach You” track and music video, and her being the first female Kpop artist to ever walk the Red Carpet of American Music Award.

IIn the interview, Tiffany says she is using makeup as a means of amplifying what you have: " It’s knowing [your skin], It’s how much are you really getting into it. Don’t take it as a chore or be upset or lazy because it’s what you make it. I truly believe it all the time and care [what]you invest in your face. The more you look into it, there will always be a solution, whether it’s products or from doctors because they are experts.”

Tiffany also shares hopes that her makeup can be a means of representing the Korean beauty aesthetic in the U.S: “I mean sheet masks are a great way to introduce it because I use them every single day, too, but there is much more to K-beauty.”

She also shares her thought on cutting her hair short during debut days as SM wanted to give her image and identity up to her recent solo release, and being the first female Kpop artist to ever walk the red carpet of American Music Awards. “I was scared, at the time, short hair wasn’t popular in the Korean girl group world. We were all getting concepts and images that would make us more recognizable because we were such a big family.”

She continued on, adding “This time however, it was voluntarily. I made sure I looked, sounded, and felt a certain way I wanted to see myself at this age,”
