“The Penthouse” Writer’s New Drama “Pandora: Beneath The Paradise” Premieres To No. 1 Ratings

tvN’s “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” is off to a strong start!

Penned by “The Penthouse” writer Kim Soon Ok, “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” is a new revenge drama starring Lee Ji Ah as a woman who comes to realize that her picture-perfect life is actually a fabrication orchestrated by someone else as part of a devious grand plan.

On March 11, the new series premiered to higher viewership ratings than its hit predecessor “Crash Course in Romance,” the drama that previously occupied its time slot. According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” took first place in its time slot across all cable channels with an average nationwide rating of 4.9 percent. (For comparison, “Crash Course in Romance” premiered to a nationwide average of 4.0 percent back in January.)

Meanwhile, after a one-week hiatus, SBS’s “Taxi Driver 2” returned to air at the top of its time slot. Despite its temporary break, the drama stayed strong with an average nationwide rating of 14.4 percent, making it the most-watched program in its time slot by far.

“Taxi Driver 2” was also the most-watched program of the entire week among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49 in the Seoul metropolitan area, with whom it scored an average rating of 7.2 percent.

JTBC’s new drama “Divorce Attorney Shin” fell to an average nationwide rating of 4.8 percent for its third episode, while MBC’s “Kokdu: Season of Deity” dipped to a nationwide average of 1.4 percent for the night.

Finally, KBS 2TV’s “Three Bold SIblings” kicked off the final two weeks of its run as the most-watched program of the entire day, earning an average nationwide rating of 24.3 percent for its latest episode.
