Soundtrack #2 (2023) K Drama Episode 2

Dec 6, 2023

In the last episode of Soundtrack #2 or 사운드트랙#2, Hyeon-seo (Geum Sae-rok) and Su-ho (Steve Noh) find themselves at a crossroads as they find out that they have unknowingly ended up together once more after 4 years. After they both refuse to work together, they decide to take the challenge in their stride, probably as a way to exact revenge over their bitter past and agree to work together.

Sae-rok was last seen in successful dramas such as The Interest of Love, Youth of May and Joseon Exorcist. Meanwhile, Noh was last seen in Behind Every Star, Curtain Call and Pachinko. The series also stars K-pop artist Demian.

The new Korean drama series will stream on Disney+ from December 06, 2023, to December 20, 2023. The series is expected to have 6 episodes, and two episodes will be released every Wednesday at 1.30 PM IST.

Soundtrack 2 Episode 2 Recap

The episode starts with Su-ho living heartbroken after his breakup with Hyeon-seo. Wishing for Hyeon-seo to have a tough time, Su-ho starts to work hard while trying to overcome the heartbreak of her breakup and hoping that she would miss him the way that he did. However, although that never happens, her wishes for her to be as miserable as him end up being the reason for him to be able to sleep at night.

In the present, both of them discuss what happened after they agreed to the lesson with their friends – she ends the lesson immediately, stating that his time is over and leaves. Although Hyeon-seo is happy to continue the lessons thanks to the money she will get, she is left to wonder why he agreed to do it. The next day, Su-ho gets a reply back from K, the artist he reached out to the night before, and agrees to meet him that afternoon.

As he gets ready to welcome his guest, Hyeon-seo searches through her books and finds a music book with Su-ho’s comments in it. Filled with nostalgia, she thinks back to the time that she spent with him in university but snaps out of it when she realises what she is doing. When she ends up going over for the lesson, she teases him about the huge haul that he did in the morning and eventually starts the lesson together. However, he is reminded of the time he spent learning the same compositions in their youth together, resulting in him faltering while playing.

After the lesson, Su-ho tries to show off his car collection, and when she is unable to open the lock on her bike, she begrudgingly takes up his offer for a ride. In the car, they try to talk about why she is part-timing as a delivery driver, but she stops the conversation and gets off. Unfortunately, Su-ho ends up being late for his appointment with K and, while waiting for him, reminisces about the time he found him looking rather glum one night when he went to pick her up.

We eventually see the reason why they broke up years ago, with him trying to make ends meet while trying his best to keep Hyeon-seo happy. However, his positive outlook and “childish” dreams become a hindrance for Hyeon-seo, who wants to earn better money and live a better life. Although he tries to make her understand his point of view, it seems like they have fundamentally grown apart as people.

In the present, Su-ho meets K, who works at the cafe where he has been waiting for so long, and they talk about possibly collaborating. K tells him that he is not interested in money but in something else – he wants to work with him before signing the contract. Su-ho helps him out and makes it easier for him to sign the contract and agrees to open up his home for him as well. Meanwhile, Hyeon-seo also meets K after the latter helps her get her headphones out of the drain. They eventually wait in line together and end up sprucing up his music, resulting in him being left speechless at her talent.

K shows Su-ho his new arrangement that he created with Hyeon-seo, and the latter ends up loving it as well. The next day, Hyeon-seo rushes to her training lesson with Su-ho but is left shocked to find K at his place. The three of them are left confused in the situation, but both K and Hyeon-seo seem to be excited to have stumbled upon each other.

Soundtrack 2 Episode 2 Bonus Track

Su-ho comes across Hyeon-seo’s pupils and stops them in their tracks. They inform him that the academy is closing down, which leaves Su-ho feeling uneasy. On the other hand, Hyeon-seo ends up having to cut through the lock on her bike to take it home, which Su-ho clocks, leaving him with several feelings.

Soundtrack 2 Episode 2 Review

Continuing with the trend of being a sweet, uncomplicated watch with complicated feelings in the background, the second episode continues to be an entertaining watch. Although we are just learning about the characters, viewers will still get a look into the protagonists and what drives them. Let’s hope Hyeon-seo gets a good enough reason to ditch Su-ho, though, because otherwise, I see a lot of hate coming her way. On the other hand, I can see why she broke it off with him in the past and her fears and aspirations, although a bit vague for now, are somewhat understandable. Coupled with immaturity, one can wonder why she might’ve made those decisions.

Let’s hope the series continues to be warm, funny and uncomplicated and rounds off the characters and their motivations well.
