Song Ha Yoon, Super Junior’s Donghae, Lee Min Jae, And Jung Woo Yeon Confirmed To Star In New Drama

The old time Korean animation “Young Shim” is returning as a drama!

On October 5, production company The Great Show announced that Song Ha Yoon, Super Junior’s Donghae, Lee Min Jae, and Jung Woo Yeon will be starring in a new drama “Oh! Young Shim” (literal title).

“Oh! Young Shim” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a reunion between Oh Young Shim and Wang Kyung Tae, who taste the sweetness and bitterness of life as they enter their 30s. Retro vibes will be added to reproduce the pleasant and warm atmosphere of the original animation, creating a unique atmosphere that contains both modern and retro vibes.

Song Ha Yoon will take on the role of Oh Young Shim in her 30s who has been working as a producing director (PD) in the entertainment department for about eight years. Due to her excessive enthusiasm, she is known as an “icon of early endings” by the people of the entertainment department since her programs tend to get cut early. In the midst of a crisis, she seizes the opportunity to produce a pilot romance variety show and finds out that the CEO of a famous startup who has been cast for the success of the show is Wang Kyung Tae, a crybaby who has been chasing her for a long time.

Donghae will play Wang Kyung Tae (Mark Wang), the CEO of the popular startup company Kingvely. The crybaby who followed Oh Young Shim despite all kinds of teasing from her as a child reappears as Mark Wang, the founder of the unicorn startup Kingvely 20 years later. Wang Kyung Tae, who has grown up to be a cold-looking perfectionist, accidentally reunites with his first love Oh Young Shim and recalls painful memories of his childhood.

Lee Min Jae will take on the role of Lee Chae Dong, Oh Young Shim’s junior colleague, and Jung Woo Yeon will play Gu Wol Sook, Oh Young Shim’s best friend.

Directors Oh Hwan Min and Kim Kyung Eun of “Misty,” “Moments of 18,” “My Country,” “Navillera,” and “The Road: The Tragedy of One,” and scriptwriter Jeon Seon Young of the film “Golden Slumber,” “A Deadbeat’s Meal,” and more will collaborate on this upcoming drama.

The production team remarked, “If you grew up watching the animation ‘Young Shim,’ you can relate to and feel nostalgia for the image of a grown-up Young Shim that you would have imagined at least once.”

“Oh! Young Shim” has finished filming and is scheduled to air in the first half of next year. Stay tuned for more updates!
