The producers of JTBC’s “SKY Castle” have spoken up about rumors regarding the drama’s scripts.
Previously, rumors of spoiler leaks by the drama’s staff began to spread on online communities. In response, the producers of “SKY Castle” explained that the script had not been leaked and that viewers had merely guessed at the correct theories.
On January 16, controversy rose again after a netizen uploaded photos of parts of the scripts for episode 17 and 18. The fact that the name “Cha Ki Joon” was left on the script drew much attention, and the photos began to spread on online communities.
JTBC issued an official statement and stated, “The ‘SKY Castle’ production staff reestablished a café twice to share the production schedules to prepare for the leakage of contents, and the schedule does not specify the contents of the scene except for the scene number. In addition, we’re distributing the scripts in paper format, not as files, with the exception of some actors.”
They continued, “We are also committed to maintaining security on-site. Nevertheless, as the production team responsible for the management and security of the script, we feel deeply sorry towards the viewers. We’re currently figuring out the rumors of the script leak, and we’ll take responsibility when things are revealed.”
The same day, a different media outlet reported that “SKY Castle” had decided on the drama’s conclusion and that writer Yoo Hyun Mi had finished writing the final episode.
In response, JTBC commented, “The script for episode 20, the final episode, is currently being written. The final draft hasn’t been submitted yet.”
The drama has been consistently receiving high viewership ratings and is responsible for breaking its own record for highest ratings achieved by any drama in JTBC history.
“SKY Castle” airs on Fridays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. KST.
