“The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” has shared Ryeo Woon’s first character stills!

SBS’s “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” (previously known as “The Love Story of Flower Scholars”) is a mysterious romance drama that tells the story of four youths including Yoon Dan Oh (Shin Ye Eun), the owner of the guesthouse Yihwawon which is free from stereotypes, and three boarding students – known as the flower scholars – who hold secrets.

Ryeo Woon will play one of the three flower scholars, alongside Kang Hoon and Jung Gun Joo. After scoring the award for Best New Actor at the 2022 SBS Drama Awards for his role in “Through the Darkness,” Ryeo Woon will now break away from his “maknae image” and captivate viewers with a new paradigm for a male lead in a historical drama.

The newly released photos show Ryeo Woon as the charismatic and independent Kang San, a scholar studying martial arts. Depicting how dedicated he is to his passions, the first still captures Ryeo Woon examining his sword with a serious expression.

Contrary to his serious demeanor, Kang San hides a warm personality, teasing the potential butterfly effect his character will evoke. Just through these few photos, Ryeo Woon’s ability to capture his character’s versatility is already evident.

Ryeo Woon explained why he was drawn to “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse,” sharing, “Although I felt pressured because this is my first historical drama, after reading the script, I wanted to know more about the character of Kang San. I thought the character had a lot of similarities with me and I really felt his charms.”

The actor introduced Kang San as a “reliable cat” and elaborated, “I expressed it like this because cats have a tsundere aspect and in the drama, [Kang San] reliably protects the female lead by her side.” He concluded, “I’m always nervous for the first episode but I think it’s starting to feel real now. I ask that you watch lots and send lots of interest.”

Producers of the drama shared, “After transforming into the role of Kang San, Ryeo Woon plans to showcase the essence of a character rich with charm as he engrosses into the strength of a ‘cool tier 1 scholar,’ as well as comedy, heart-fluttering emotion, and action.
