Jun 28, 2022

Change Days (체인지데이즈) is a Korean dating reality TV series with hosts Jang Do-yeon, Code Kunst, Yang Se-chan and Heo Young-ji. Change Days season 2 episode 4 has a runtime of 64 minutes.

The couples featured in Change Days season 2 include  Lee Jeong-hun and Choi Hui-hyeon, Kim Tae-wan and Kim Hye-yeon, Choi Yun-seul and Min Hyo-gi, and Kim Do-hyeong and Kim Ji-yu.

– Change Days Season 2 Episode 4 review contains mild spoilers –

Change Days season 2 episode 4 has our second couple come back home and after an explosive third episode which ended will a silly fight with tons of misunderstandings. In the latest episode, our other couple is still out at dinner time so you can expect how that goes with the others.

I am yet to ascertain whether the show is a genius when it comes to the drama or whether it’s cruel to a horrible extent. Regardless of which (or both?) it is, I found myself thinking about the contestants who got left behind in this episode.

As we see the rest of the aftermath of those romantic dates, I felt myself drawn towards Ji-yu and the others who didn’t go on the dates and wallowed in self-pity throughout the day. However, I feel bad for Ji-yu and Do-hyeong for their absolute lack of communication.

Again, Code Kunst comes to impart some really great insight about how Do-hyeong’s treatment of the situation with his girlfriend is just incorrect considering he’s back from the date and should now pay attention to his girlfriend.

It’s also shocking how the couple doesn’t talk about their feelings at all, unlike the others who have full-blown fights about the situation. I think it’s a way to test your situation, but honestly, I can think of so many different ways you can figure things out – this really isn’t one of them.

And it’s not just them who have very bad communication, it’s also another couple whose communication powers are almost in the even though they have been in dating for quite a while. I guess that’s the reason why they are in this situation, but still. How can people be nearing 30 and still be like this?

However, drama aside, I am constantly impressed by the hosts. They are just so genuine! And the best part about them is that they get to know what’s going to happen in the episode along with all of us and thus it’s absolutely hilarious when their predictions go wrong and everyone just starts screaming wondering what’s going on. I love it.

So, in Change Days season 2 episode 4, another round of choosing takes place which opens up some old wounds and give birth to some new ones. I am not going to divulge who chooses whom but it’s absolutely crazy. Also, there’s another shocking twist moment that shakes the hosts, participants and the audiences up as well – resulting in Tae-wan’s hilarious but predictably disheartening actions.

I think the twists in this episode really brought home the feelings of those who were left in the villa the last time. You can clearly see the expression on their spouses’ faces when they realise what is going on but have no other choice but to accept it.

As intimate and exciting as the new partners may seem, I am constantly left shocked as to how cruel some people can be when they are apparently in love. I guess the exciting anticipation of new love is quite enchanting and can make you do crazy things, but I guess a bit of empathy goes a long way and that’s something you don’t get to see in some of the contestants in the series.

Change Days season 2 episode 5 is more about the original relationships and the problems that they face after such an explosive dating day. It can’t be easy to sit there and watch your partner create bonds with others. Although we will all find a favourite and not-so-favourite contestants after this episode, I am genuinely left astonished as to how genuine these people feel in comparison to Western reality dating shows that we are constantly subjected to.

No, seriously, if you enjoy reality TV but are tired of the crap that you see usually on Netflix, then Korean reality shows really are great. Everyone in the episode till now feels genuine, warm and flawed – no one is a monster or a saint and everyone does things in moderation. There’s something very relatable about these people (except for going to a reality show to solve your relationship problems) that will pull you into their lives and situations.

I don’t know what the next episode will bring because frankly, the way Change Days season 2 episode 4 dropped its twists on the contestants, I am not sure what else can be in store for us. Considering a lot of people are going to go on dates in the next episodes, I am guessing things are going to get spicier as one contestant will be left to fend for himself in the villa.

Another dramatic episode filled with the right kinds of twists and turns, Change Days season 2 episode 4 forced me to sit up and take notice more than once. The drama llama in me can’t wait for the next episode, alas, we’ll only have to wait for 7 more days.
