Recap Korean Drama "Kiss Sixth Sense" Episode 5

Jun 8, 2022

Kiss Sixth Sense (키스 식스 센스) is a romantic-fantasy Korean drama series directed by Nam Ki-hoon and stars Yoon Kye-sang, Seo Ji-hye, Kim Ji-suk and Hwang Bo-ra, alongside other cast members. The series has 12 episodes, each with a runtime of around an hour. The series is based on the webtoon of the same name by Gatnyeo. Kiss Sixth Sense episode 5 has a runtime of 65 minutes.

Kiss Sixth Sense episode 5 starts at that delicious moment when Min-hu and Ye-sool are just about to make a deal about bringing her predictions to fruition when Ji-young barges in and starts pestering him about whether they are dating or not. She asks him whether Ye-sool knows about his secret and that no other woman would accept his secret other than her, since she already knows everything about him.

This makes him think and when he comes back to talk to Ye-sool, who asks her what his deal was, he brushes it off and tells her that it’s nothing. Ye-sool looks discouraged and he, too, looks like he’s unhappy with the turn of events. Ji-young just feels so manipulative, especially in this scene where she sows the seed of doubt in Min-hu’s mind. And also that mention of the “no one will accept you” line is just so yucky.

Anyway, Min-hu comes back home and takes off his contacts, which seem like they have disintegrated in his eyes or something and then he starts to see and hear everything that’s happening in the city around him. Meanwhile, Pil-yo gets ready to start working with Zeu.Ad while his colleagues make fun of his obsession with Ye-sool while the latter and Ho-woo discuss whether Min-hu wants to take inspiration from the Fifty Shades of Grey book of… BDSM, or if you can call it that.

Anyway, the next day, Pil-yo gets a shock that Mopix wants Ji-young to be their model, which goes against his vision for the ad. He insists that the model will not work with the ad that he has in mind, but Min-hu promises him that he will find a way to fit Ji-young into the mould that he wants in the story. Pil-yo is confused because he wanted someone older, in her 70s, for the ad. Funnily, Min-hu promises that he will turn Ji-young into a 70-year-old man if necessary, with the best special effects make-up team out there.

That evening, Pil-yo again hounds Ye-sool about whether she thought about his suggestion to go on a few dates. However, she again rebuffs him and tells him that she needs more time to think. Anyway, she gets into a conversation with Min-hu about sleeping with each other. He asks her whether he wants to sleep with him because of what she saw and when she agrees and tells her that doing this would ease her mind, he asks her to meet at his place that night.

She agrees and looks confident in front of him, but realises what she has done later and tries to convince herself that this is what she wanted and it’s best to get it over with. That night, the two start to do the devil’s tango, but Min-ho’s need to know exactly what they do in her prediction makes her stop and they end up discussing why they would act like that – he is never that emotional. The next few scenes are hilarious, Yoon Kye-sang’s confused aloofness is just so funny.

Anyway, in the end, Min-hu tells Ye-sool that he doesn’t sleep with people he is not interested in and thus his condition – she must date him to have sex with him. The condition leaves her feeling confused about what to do. Min-hu’s general demeanour is just… magnetic and their sexual chemistry is just too hard to ignore.  Ye-sool feels the same way, and the sudden condition drives her insane that night, hilariously.

After some awkward moments in the office the next day and trying to tide over Pil-yo’s tantrums, Ye-sool lets Min-hu know that she can’t date him. He seems fine at first, says he agrees and then, funnily, starts to tell her that she must’ve made her other premonitions come true. So, does that mean that she likes him? Caught off guard, Ye-sool tries to defend herself, but he’s just too good at getting under her skin.

Min-hu tells her that, for some reason, it doesn’t make sense for her to date him or be with him, but he wonders why since both of them are single. She tries to counter that she might be seeing someone, but Min-hu mentions that she wouldn’t be trying to have a one-night stand, in that case. That’s when Pil-yo calls her and in order to get back at Min-hu and also get her job done, Ye-sool agrees to go on the three dates with him.

On the other hand, Ji-young continues to blackmail Min-hu saying that she will tell Ye-sool everything about his personal medical problems (or special powers?) if he continues to ignore her. Anyway, we get an idea about Min-hu’s issues here – he has sensory overload issues where he sees and hears things at a higher rate than normal people. Ji-young’s father has tried to help him since he was a child and has given him techniques and medications to help control his issues.

As Ye-sool and Pil-yo go on one of their dates, the atmosphere feels awkward especially since he keeps asking her the most cringe questions to know whether she feels even a tiny bit happy to be out here with him. He continues to express his affection for her and somewhere, it seems like she, too, feels a little wistful and is somewhat enjoying her time. The location is gorgeous and I don’t blame her for getting the feels – it’s just that kind of a place.

That night she again asks her why they broke up, but she is hesitant to tell him that their future together would always be miserable. That she’d seen him with someone else and have a family with them – they had no future. Her habit of kissing didn’t get lost on Pil-yo either and he is almost about to ask her about it when she gets a call and then makes an excuse to go back home.

However, that night, as she goes inside, things seem a bit quiet, too quiet, in her house. The lights don’t turn on and her stuff is strewn about everywhere… plus, there’s someone in her home. Just as he’s about to attack her, Min-hu gets there to save her.

Kiss Sixth Sense Episode 5 Review

Kiss Sixth Sense episode 5, talking about sex between two very compatible people, but not giving us what we want has made watching the series almost torturous. I love the way they have created the scenarios. Obviously, we know that they won’t just start having sex from the third episode just because, but still, it’s delicious. I also empathise with her relationship with Pil-yo. I can see that there are unresolved feelings there that never really got solved but Pil-yo is just annoying to me for some reason and so I just want it to end.

The burglar scene just feels a bit forced. It’s meant to bring the two closer, I get it, but still feels unnecessary because there could’ve been other ways to do that. But then again, how will Min-hu’s powers come in handy in any other scenario?

All in all, an entertaining episode all around and hopefully the next episode gives us some interesting moments between the protagonists.
