Recap "Forecasting Love and Weather" Episode 6 with Park Min Young, Song Kang

Feb 27, 2022

Well, that’s a mess. Finding each other at a seedy motel is always a bad idea, especially when a mystery woman asks to meet your office boyfriend again. It’s weird that these two adults refuse to communicate at all, especially considering that both have faced a lot of hurt in the past. Or maybe that’s why they are doing this – the trapped pain makes you do things that are very much unlike you.

Chief Team Two is starting the night shift from this day, which Dong-han has completely forgotten and has reached the office a bit too early. Meanwhile, Si-woo gets to know that he has a week to find new accommodation. But, he has a more pressing issue – Ha-kyung. She asks for them to part ways and she says that seeing him the other night has made her doubt him, although she knows that he’s sincere. Although he tries to convince her, she refuses and says that it’s better to part ways, for her own sake.

Just as Ha-kyung is about to leave, Si-woo tells her that he was there to meet his gambling addict of a father who is sucking him dry. The flashback is heartbreaking – sweet Si-woo doesn’t stand a chance against his narcissistic sperm donor of a father. Anyway, he asks him never to contact him again but his father overhears everything between his son and Ha-kyung and seems to be hatching a plan.

Back at night shift, Dong-han and Ha-kyung’s relationship has improved drastically, much to Si-woo’s confusion and anger, thanks to that night at the motel. Things are a bit cold between Si-woo and Ha-kyung as well. Although the latter keeps on looking at her just a smidge creepily, Ha-kyung doesn’t pay him or anyone else any mind. Anyway, the quiet only lasts so long, after Si-woo’s father calls in at work and asks to meet Ha-kyung, which she agrees to.

Well, he accuses her of sleeping with his son and immediately goes to blackmail her when she, for some reason, acts all intimidated. Either way, she rushes to the hospital when Si-woo tells her that her mother has been taken to the hospital. However, she turns out a bit dehydrated and the sisters seem in a better mood in the morning. Seeing them happy, Si-woo goes to give his father his entire savings (again) but learns about him meeting Ha-kyung. A fight ensues but it’s honestly exhausting to watch go down.

Si-woo later meets and apologises to Ha-kyung for his father’s behaviour in Forecasting Love and Weather episode 6. They, instead, have lunch together and she tells him about her father’s death. She asks him to promise to tell her first if he feels any differently about her. Even if it breaks her heart, she should be the first one to know. At the end of it, she asks him to move in with her.

Yu-jin asks Ki-jun to push back registering their marriage. Karma.

Final Thoughts: Forecasting Love and Weather Episode 6

Well, that was a twist in the end, one that I totally expected and whole-heartedly wanted because I am petty like that. Either way, as I mentioned yesterday, this extortion plot is getting a bit much and I hope they really don’t extend it. It’s just too much and feels extremely forced to introduce a new character to stir the pot.

Other than that, I like the conflict between the protagonists and the driving force behind their decisions. It’s interesting to see how past experiences can shape a person’s present and future if left unchecked. Song Kang and Park Min-young bounce off each other’s energies great, but Si-woo can get a bit creepy sometimes with the silent staring, though, not gonna lie.

My main bone of contention is how Si-woo and Ha-kyung tackle his father’s entitlement and blackmail. Ha-kyung has no reason to be intimidated here. Why is she scared about what a gambling addict has to say? Who will believe him? Why does Si-woo constantly give his father all of his savings? It’s not like the money will help him in any way. He is just enabling his father’s bad behaviour. Plus, it’s not like either of them are kids who are scared of an adult’s scolding. Walk away. It’s so weird to me that Si-woo would let his father keep the money even after learning that he talked to and blackmailed Ha-kyung. It’s just so exhausting!
