However, the people at Solution will not let their client experience such a loss and use any method possible to get her child back from her husband. And Sa-ra doesn’t fail as she gets her client’s son back with her heroic moves, ensuring that this mother doesn’t lose her child as she did.

With this, we go 2 years in the past when Kim Sa-ra was a well-acclaimed lawyer working at Chayul Law Firm where the chairperson, who is also her mother-in-law, is celebrating her birthday. However, while she continues to be a perfect daughter-in-law, her mother-in-law, Chairperson Cha Hee-won refuses to accept her into the family and her husband is busy cheating on her. Sa-ra is disheartened by Hee-won’s behaviour but doesn’t lose her spirit and continues to bear her actions.

On the other hand, we have prosecutor Dong Ki-joon, who is ready to take down another place where illegal activities are taking place; all while going against his superiors. Meanwhile, Sa-ra makes her way to her mother’s restaurant after the birthday party and is finally able to let go of the burden of being a daughter-in-law.

Seeing her daughter this way, Park Jeong-sook understands that there’s something wrong and assures Sa-ra that she can do what makes her happy. She tells her that she doesn’t need to lower her head in front of others because of her and that she won’t be happy if Sa-ra is not happy. This makes Sa-ra tearful as she finally sees an escape that can be used when she needs it.

Later, she returns home but is met with Hee-won’s contempt who taunts her for carrying the smell of food on her after meeting her mother. Sa-ra tries to fight back but is surprised by the lousy response she is given. Later, she complains to her husband about the same but Noh Yul-seong is least bothered about her complaints.

Seeing all this, Sa-ra is frustrated but gets reassurance and strength from her son. Elsewhere, a well-known plastic surgeon is seen beating up his wife Son Jang-mi, however, this time his wife is not going to keep quiet about this incident. The next day, Sa-ra is made to accept the case and fight on behalf of the husband.

Sa-ra refuses to reduce her winning rate by taking up a case like this, but Hee-won entices her by offering her the respect of a daughter-in-law and a seat on the Board of Directors. Sa-ra takes up the case and diligently prepares for the same while going against her conscience. During the trial, she adamantly defends her client but is shocked when the other party presents footage of her client getting touchy with Hee-won.

This shocks Sa-ra as she informs Hee-won about the same after the trial. While they think about what to do, Sa-ra gets a call of a raid taking place in her client’s office and rushes to the scene. There she comes across Ki-joon and from their expressions it can be seen that they share a history that is not easy to forget.

Ki-joon finds out who Sa-ra is defending and passes on information that can change Sa-ra’s mind. Sa-ra soon finds out that her client has lied about his sexual orientation throughout his marriage and this information is enough to make him lose his case. While she contemplates this information, she finds out that Hee-won has backed out from her promise and has assigned another lawyer a set in the Board of Directors.

Sa-ra understands that Hee-won only tried to use her for her own gain and decides to pass on information about her client’s sexual orientation to his wife. This information is enough to help Jang-mi win the case and get custody of her son along with a huge alimony. However, this makes Hee-won adamant about getting rid of Sa-ra and tells her son about her plan.

Apparently, Hee-won got hold of Sa-ra’s signature and seal and has already filed for divorce in her stead. Soon, news of parents getting a fake divorce to get their children illicit admission and Sa-ra is named one of them. Sa-ra is shocked by this but soon finds out that this was planned by Hee-won to get rid of her.

Yul-seong also doesn’t defend Sa-ra and tells her to serve jail time in their stead. Sa-ra is shocked and is soon taken to prison while Yul-seong is asked to marry the daughter of a powerful individual for the company’s benefit. He then goes to Sa-ra and informs her of their divorce and the fact that he will make sure to take their son’s custody for good.

He tells her that he is doing this for their good but Sa-ra has understood the self-centered nature of this man. But she is not one with any power and silently serves prison time. Meanwhile, she is visited by Kang Bom who tells her that whatever Yul-seong has said is true and even bail is not possible for her right now.

Queen of Divorce Episode 1 Review

Lee Ji-ah is back in another exciting role and she definitely suits the strong, independent, badass woman character to perfection. This time, she is also a lawyer which means that we can expect another intense role from her which is similar yet different from her past roles.

Meanwhile, we also have Kang Ki-young in his first lead role and he is showing a promising performance through this first episode. However, there weren’t many scenes of the actor in this episode so we can only wait for a few more episodes to see how well he portrays his character in this law drama.

Coming to the Kdrama, this episode has surely shown us some promising entertainment ahead as it begins in a dramatic way but also brings excitement from within us all. Additionally, this was only the first episode so we cannot predict how the drama will go from here on already. Thus, it will be fun to stick to this drama for a while to see how well it goes.
