JTBC’s “Doctor Slump” has shared a sneak peek of Park Shin Hye ahead of the drama’s premiere!

“Doctor Slump” is a romantic comedy about two former rivals who reunite and unexpectedly become each other’s light during the darkest period of their lives. Park Hyung Sik will star as Yeo Jung Woo, a star plastic surgeon whose thriving career suddenly falls into danger due to a strange medical accident, while Park Shin Hye will play Nam Ha Neul, an anesthesiologist suffering from burnout syndrome.

Possessing great intelligence and stubborn persistence, Park Shin Hye’s character Nam Ha Neul was immersed in her studies as a student, and now as a doctor, she is immersed in her work. Having lived a “boring” life while only knowing how to study and work, Nam Ha Neul resolves to change her life around after reflecting on her past.

The newly released stills depict Nam Ha Neul undergoing her fellowship at a university hospital. She lives each day busily and fiercely at the hospital, and she has no time to look after herself because she’s so busy looking after her patients. Nam Ha Neul’s facial expression in the still conveys her exhaustion from her repetitive life.

Another still depicts Nam Ha Neul walking the streets in her scrubs with teary eyes. Furthermore, Nam Ha Neul is captured in an unfamiliar place looking anxious with a complex mix of emotions apparent on her face, making viewers even more curious about what caused Nam Ha Neul to pull the breaks on her fast-paced life.

Park Shin Hye shared, “I think that anyone can experience a slump once in their life. I also have such an experience. As a result, I was affected by the emotions Ha Neul felt. Personally, I think I showcased a lot of thriller and mystery genre type of projects, so I wanted to greet viewers with a project that viewers can feel healed by through a mundane and everyday life story.”

The actress continued, “For my acting, I had the opportunity to talk to a psychiatrist, and they told me that having depression doesn’t mean being listless all day. [It can be] having a lot of emotions, and it just means temporarily forgetting how to overcome something when facing difficulties. I think I acted with those aspects in mind. I wanted to properly portray the process of Ha Neul, who is listless and anxious, feeling healed through her family and Jung Woo.”

“Doctor Slump” will premiere on January 27 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
