NCT’s Jungwoo Says NCT 127’s Recent Concert Reminded Him Of Why He Became An Idol

In a recent interview and cover pictorial for Arena Homme Plus magazine, NCT’s Jungwoo took a nostalgic look back at his career.

NCT 127 is currently gearing up to release a new winter special single album entitled “Be There For Me.” (The album and its title track will be released online on December 22, while the physical version of the album is due out on December 27.)

“This is our first time releasing a winter special album,” said Jungwoo. “If I had to name a genre, it would be closest to a Christmas song. I think you’ll be able to enjoy it more if you look forward to it while thinking, ‘What would a Christmas song sung by NCT 127 sound like?’”

Jungwoo also revealed that the song he sang the most when he was younger was Ne-Yo’s “So Sick.”

“I bet there’s no one around my age who didn’t sing this song when they were a trainee,” he shared with a laugh. “I really sang it a lot.”

“When I was a trainee, we had monthly evaluations at the end of each month,” continued Jungwoo. “The song I sang for my first monthly evaluation was ‘So Sick.’ Because of that, it’s a particularly meaningful song for me.”

As for what part of his job as a singer he finds most rewarding, the NCT member shared that it’s the moments he spends performing on stage.

In particular, Jungwoo shared that he was reminded of why he became an idol at NCT 127’s recent concert in Seoul this past November.

“It was a concert where I felt, ‘Wow, I’ve been able to grow this much,’ and ‘This is why I started this job,’” he recalled. “This might be trite, but when I’m on stage, I truly feel alive. Of course, parts of that process are hard and stressful, but [when I’m on stage], I feel like I’m being repaid for all of that.”
