Lee Beom Soo appeared as a special MC on the December 23 episode of “My Ugly Ducking,” where he talked about the early days of his career. Shin Dong Yup asked whether there was anyone to whom he felt particularly grateful during his time as an unknown actor, and Lee Beom Soo responded by praising Jung Woo Sung.
“He’s a cool actor and a really admirable man,” said Lee Beom Soo. “When I was filming the movie ‘City of the Rising Sun’ in the summer of 1998, all the actors and staff went to eat lunch together at a restaurant. The restaurant was packed.”
He went on, “The problem was that even though we [the less famous members of the cast] had ordered a long time ago, we were unknown actors, so no one took care of us on set during filming. The food that we had ordered kept going to staff members and [famous] actors who had arrived late.”
“Just when our food was about to be passed to other people yet again,” he continued, “Jung Woo Sung pointed us out and said, ‘No. The people over there have been waiting for a long time. The food should have gone to them first, but their food keeps going to other people. Please give them their food as soon as possible.’ That was the moment that I really took notice of Jung Woo Sung as a person.”
Lee Beom Soo added, “Even after our food arrived, Jung Woo Sung kept an eye on us until the moment that we started eating, just to make sure that we got to eat. He was really mature and cool. He’s an actor that I really like.”
