Following the finale of MBC’s “Tomorrow,” Kim Hee Sun sat down for an interview to share her thoughts on the drama and her role!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Tomorrow” is a fantasy drama starring SF9‘s Rowoon as Choi Joon Woong, a mortal who gets into an unfortunate accident while struggling to find a job. As a result, he crosses paths with grim reapers Goo Ryun (Kim Hee Sun) and Lim Ryoong Goo (Yoon Ji On), who work together to save the lives of those who are contemplating suicide, and he winds up joining their team in the underworld as their youngest member.

During the interview, Kim Hee Sun shared her thoughts about “Tomorrow,” remarking, “It was a story I wanted to tell someone. Just looking around us, there are many people who are struggling because of different problems. I thought it would be nice to have a drama to comfort them, and I was lucky to meet ‘Tomorrow.’ ‘Tomorrow’ is definitely a little different from the projects that I have done so far. I wanted ‘Tomorrow’ to not only be fun and interesting but also talk about problems that we think about once in our lives, so I’m happy that has been conveyed well.”

Kim Hee Sun made a drastic transformation in “Tomorrow,” and she stole the spotlight with her vibrant pink bobbed hairstyle, red eye shadow, and colorful, stylish outfits. Concerning that, she commented, “I dyed my hair and had my hair manicured once every four days. Now my hair is so damaged that strands of it just fall off. I think I’ll have a hard time for a while. However, I tried to be faithful in expressing Goo Ryun, and fortunately, people around me said that pink hair and red eye shadow look good on me, so I am grateful.”

“Tomorrow” dealt with sensitive topics that have emerged as social problems. Some subjects mentioned were school violence, sexual harassment, and eating disorders. Although there were fantasy elements involving grim reapers, the drama contained realistic stories that reflected modern society. Despite the viewership ratings that came out lower than expected, it was still a meaningful series.

Kim Hee Sun stated, “It’s a nice drama. I hope and anticipate that [people] will come across our drama through a different path. And if they saw it through that route and received comfort, I am satisfied with it. Among the reasons for choosing this project, I can’t say I overlooked the possibility that it’ll become a hit, but it was more meaningful, and I’m content because I think the part [about the drama becoming a success] was partially satisfied.”

The actress then talked about her teamwork with Rowoon, Yoon Ji On, and Lee Soo Hyuk. She shared, “Rowoon is young but mature. He is so mature and nice that I can’t feel the age difference. Lee Soo Hyuk might seem cold, but he is very delicate and caring. He is a kind person who takes good care of the people around him. Yoon Ji On is really faithful to his work. He is a good junior actor who is diligent and good at self-management. All three of them are my junior colleagues, but there’s a lot to learn from them. Not only those three, but all the cast, crew, and senior actors, were able to have fun. That’s why I think it was a more meaningful project. I’m thankful to all of them, and I hope we can see each other again in another project.”
