"Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung" is set during the Joseon period, portraying images of women fighting against prejudices of gender and rank in contemporary society.
Shin Se Kyung takes on the role of an academic historian Goo Hae Ryung. She is smart, brave, but not so poor and "muddy", often presents many unique jokes with bad jokes and jokes at the beautiful prince Lee Rim (Cha Eun Woo) .
