Jeon Do Yeon Talks About Difficulties Filming Action Scenes, Success Of “Kill Boksoon” And “Crash Course In Romance,” And More

Jeon Do Yeon has discussed her latest film “Kill Boksoon” in a new interview!

“Kill Boksoon” is an action film about the hitman industry’s legendary killer Gil Bok Soon (Jeon Do Yeon), who is also a single mother with a 1o-year-old daughter. Right before she’s scheduled to renew her contract with the company, she gets swept up in an inevitable confrontation where she has no choice but to kill or be killed. The Netflix film was released worldwide on March 31.

The actress explained that because she chooses to star in fun and relatable projects, she always hopes for high viewership. Jeon Do Yeon commented, “There was a frustration I developed because not as many people were watching as I had thought. However, I cannot determine success. I’m so thankful that my recent projects have received so much love. It’s a relief that young friends have at least come to know the actress Jeon Do Yeon and I’ve also developed hope that they may have more interest in my projects in the future.”

Although “Kill Boksoon” was not Jeon Do Yeon’s first action film, it was her first time undertaking long and strenuous action sequences as the lead. She confessed that although she did her absolute best with these scenes, she’s decided that action films aren’t quite right for her because of physical limitations.

She elaborated on her practice for these action scenes, sharing that her opening scene with Hwang Jung Min was the movie’s first shoot. Jeon Do Yeon commented, “Although I practiced for a really long time, my first try on set, and not in the practice room, didn’t go as I wanted. Hwang Jung Min said that we had done enough but I said I would try again out of greed so we filmed numerous times. But still, I felt very regretful.”

Jeon Do Yeon continued, “The action in the middle [of the film] at the restaurant was filmed for close to a month. When I was filming then, I began feeling a bit more comfortable from a certain point on. It was to the point where director Byun Sang Hyun said, ‘In this condition, you could re-shoot the opening scene.'”

Although “Kill Boksoon” was released after Jeon Do Yeon’s latest drama “Crash Course in Romance” finished airing, the actress revealed that she actually filmed the movie first. As both projects required a lot of physical exertion, Jeon Do Yeon explained that she took medicine to recharge her energy while filming “Crash Course in Romance,” but just gritted her teeth and powered through “Kill Boksoon” filming. She added, “Doing what I had to do came before my body being in pain.”

With regards to the success of her latest works, Jeon Do Yeon commented, “I’m so thankful to have this opportunity. This is a time that’s like comfort and strength to me, [reflecting] that I did well without getting tired. I do not know what projects will be successful in the future too, but I will continue doing as I have been doing up until now.”
