Hook Entertainment Denies Reports Of Youn Yuh Jung Leaving Agency; Says “No Comment” On Police Search And Seizure

Hook Entertainment has denied reports that award-winning actress Youn Yuh Jung is parting ways with the agency.

On November 17, one Korean news outlet reported that Youn Yuh Jung had recently decided to leave Hook Entertainment after “deep thought and consideration.” The report quoted an industry insider as saying, “Because she’s been verbally renewing her contract with her current agency based on trust for a long time, rather than use a dramatic term like ‘end of contract,’ it’d be more accurate to say that she’s preparing to part ways with the agency while wishing them all the best.”

However, that same day, Hook Entertainment responded by stating, “It’s not true that Youn Yuh Jung’s exclusive contract with us is ending.”

As for the recent search and seizure conducted at the company by the police, Hook Entertainment remarked, “We have no comment regarding the search and seizure. We ask for your understanding.”

The agency also told another news outlet the following morning, “It’s completely untrue that Youn Yuh Jung is leaving our agency.”

Last year, Youn Yuh Jung made history by sweeping the international awards circuit with her memorable performance in “Minari,” which won her an Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award, and a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award—making her the first Korean actor ever to win an acting award at any of the three prestigious ceremonies.
