On March 5, at the press conference for tvN’s “He is Psychometric,” producing director (PD) Kim Byung Soo revealed how he chose Jo Byeong Gyu to join the drama after the departure of Jung Yoo Ahn.
 SHINee
Jung Yoo Ahn was originally cast as the young version of Kim Kwon‘s role in the drama. After sexual harrassment accusations, it was announced that he will withdraw from the drama and that Jo Byeong Gyu will replace him.
Regarding the change in cast, the PD said, “The filming was already 100 percent complete. When the bad news came up, my first thoughts were, ‘Why did this have to happen to me?’ But it wasn’t something I could control, and I thought of it as a chance to take a misfortune and turn it into a blessing.”
He explained that Jo Byeong Gyu had been a candidate for the role from the start, saying, “I had my eye on Jo Byeong Gyu. When I was looking for a new actor in the beginning, his schedule didn’t work out. But [later,] he was wrapping up ‘SKY Castle’ filming so his schedule worked out and he could join [‘He is Psychometric’].”
Also at the press conference was GOT7’s Jinyoung, who shared his worries about playing the lead role in the drama, and Shin Ye Eun, who talked about rehearsing with him at the JYP headquarters.
“He is Psychometric” is set to premiere on March 11 at 9:30 p.m. KST.
