“Haechi” Premieres With Strong Ratings, “The Item” Trails

Monday this week brought two new K-dramas to the fold: SBS’s “Haechi,” starring Jung Il Woo and Go Ara, and MBC’s “The Item,” starring Joo Ji Hoon and Jin Se Yeon.

According to Nielsen Korea, “Haechi” shot to No. 1 in the Monday-Tuesday drama race with its premiere episodes, which recorded 6.0 percent and 7.1 percent and hit a peak ratings moment of 10.9 percent.
“My Lawyer, Mr. Joe 2,” returning from a two-week hiatus due to actor Park Shin Yang’s surgery for a herniated disc, took the No. 2 spot with 4.4 and 5.7 percent, while “The Item” kicked off its run trailing in third with 4.0 and 4.9 percent.
“Haechi” is a historical drama about a prince of lowly birth (Jung Il Woo) who cannot become king. He teams up with an inspector and female investigator from the Office of the Inspector General (Kwon Yool and Go Ara) in a quest to take his place at the throne.
“The Item” is mystery-fantasy about a prosecutor (Joo Ji Hoon) and profiler (Jin Se Yeon) who must uncover the secrets behind mysterious items that hold supernatural powers in order to protect those that they love.
