BTS’s J-Hope Makes Donation To His Hometown

BTS’s J-Hope has made a caring donation to his hometown of Gwangju!

On January 2, it was revealed that J-Hope had participated in the Hometown Love Donation Campaign, making a donation to the Bukgu district of Gwangju. The city shared, “J-Hope, who is currently in the United States, has expressed his intention to donate 5 million won [approximately $3,900] through his father. Once J-Hope returns to Korea, he will send his donation by internet to his hometown of Bukgu.”

J-Hope was born in the district of Bukgu, which is also where he attended elementary, middle, and high school, making this donation that much more meaningful.

For the Hometown Love Donation Project, individuals donating to their hometown or other municipalities that they do not currently reside in can only donate up to 5 million won per year through a tax deduction benefit and return gift policy. There are 30 different return gift options, such as agricultural product packages, tomatoes, and eco-friendly detergents, which J-Hope is able to choose from.

Moon In, the Bukgu Office Manager, shared, “We will prepare thoroughly so that the three-in-one hometown love donation project, that contributes to the vitalization of the local economy, is used for the development of Bukgu, to respond to local population decline, and to secure local financial resources. I anticipate that J-Hope’s intention to donate will also have a great impact on the settlement of the system.”

On the evening of January 2, J-Hope returned to Korea from the United States following his performance on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” the famous American New Year’s Eve TV special.
