Branding in Seongsu (2024) Episode 5

Feb 18, 2024

Picking up just where the previous episode left off, Branding in Seongsu Episode 5 dives right in. After looking in the mirror, Na-eon is taken aback to see that she is actually inhabiting Eun-ho’s body. Then she finds out that Eun-ho, who is in her body at the moment, is in the ICU. When she visits the ICU, she learns that she died.

After this, Na-eon has to adjust to Eun-ho’s life as she’s in his body following the soul swap. She wears his distasteful clothes, lives in his plant-filled flat, and lives his mediocre life at the agency.

Furthermore, Na-eon finds out that the underdog team has hired her permanently. By this stage, she has also begun to suspect several people of being behind her murder. Among her suspects are Mr. Nam, Yu-mi, Mr. Han, the shoe factory labourer, and Eun-ho

The staff at the office notices that Eun-ho is behaving differently than usual, which causes some to wonder as to what is going on with him. He seems more assured and straightforward now that Na-eon is within Eun-ho’s body. She goes to the extent of asking Yu-mi whether she was involved in the murder. Meanwhile, Yu-mi confronts Eun-ho, demanding to know if he had an affair with Na-eon and if she was his girlfriend.

Not long after that, Yu-mi makes a call, clearly anxious about Na-eon’s return to work. Following this, we see Yu-mi ask Eun-ho to take care of the chaos in the factory, claiming she’ll be reviewing the underdog team herself.

During the closing moments of the episode, Na-eon runs into the factory labourer, who is surprised to see Eun-ho there. Following this, she discovers the bite mark on his hand, and that’s when the episode ends.

The Episode Review

In episode 5, Na-eon finds herself in Eun-ho’s body. After that, she makes up her mind to find her murderer. Yu-mi has been promoted to the position of Team Leader.

The episode continues the trend of having a rather intriguing, drama-packed, and fascinating plot. However, the plot falls flat in terms of involving the audience in the characters’ stories. Additionally, the plot suffers due to the characters’ lack of depth and complexity and the storyline’s fixation on the agency plotline, the romance element, and the supernatural. In the process of juggling multiple genres, the show barely does justice in any of them, which is rather disappointing.
