Big Hit Entertainment starts global hunt for new girl group
Big Hit Entertainment is searching for trainees for its next girl group.

Big Hit Entertainment, the label behind K-pop mega group BTS, and its newly acquired company Source Music, home to girl group GFriend, have started their global hunt for members for a new K-pop girl group.

Applications for the Plus Global Audition opened on Tuesday for girls born between 2001 and 2007 (from age 13 to 19). The auditions will run from Oct. 5 to Oct. 27, starting from Los Angeles and New York City.

Auditions will be held in 16 cities around the world, including the United States, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Korea.

Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk and Chief Brand Officer Min Hee-jin, a former creative director at SM Entertainment who recently joined Big Hit, will take the lead in producing the new girl band. The new group is expected to debut in 2021.

This will be Big Hit's second girl band after its short-lived five-member group GLAM disbanded in 2015
