Actor Kang Kyung Joon’s Former Agency Releases Statement Regarding Recent Controversy And His Exclusive Contract

K-Star Global Entertainment has revealed that their exclusive contract with actor Kang Kyung Joon has expired.

Earlier on January 3, a media outlet reported that Kang Kyung Joon was sued for 50 million won (approximately $38,131) in damages on December 26 for allegedly having an affair with a married woman (hereafter referred to as Mrs. A). Later the same day, K-Star Global Entertainment stated, “We have confirmed that the actor received the legal documents [notifying him of the lawsuit] today.” The agency also stated that it all seems to be a misunderstanding.

On January 8, a media outlet released some of the messages that were exchanged between Mrs. A and Kang Kyung Joon. According to the revealed messages, Kang Kyung Joon sent affectionate messages such as “I want to hug you” and “I love you” to Mrs. A.

Following the reports, a representative from K-Star Global Entertainment shared with a media outlet, “We attempted to verify the content of the article that was released in the morning internally within the company. However, as it pertains to the actor’s private life, it seems there is no part that the agency can provide a response to.”

The representative further stated, “Kang Kyung Joon’s exclusive contract with us expired in October of last year. While supporting him during his activities for KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman,’ we were in discussions about extending his exclusive contract. However, due to the recent incident, we decided to suspend discussions on the extension of his exclusive contract until the incident is resolved.” The representative added, “We apologize for causing controversy.”

Kang Kyung Joon is married to actress Jang Shin Young, and they have two sons that he appeared with on “The Return of Superman.”
