A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023) Episode 7

Episode 7 of A Good Day To Be A Dog starts with Seo-won’s school bully,  Kang Eun-hwan, finding the post made by Yu-na’s ex-boyfriend. In the post,  Eun-hwan recognises the photo of Seo-won with a woman. The post also reads that Hae-na had a condition of turning into a dog which makes Eun-hwan curious. He reaches out to Yu-na’s ex and tries to understand the situation better.

Since he runs a YouTube expose channel, Eun-hwan asks for the ex-boyfriend’s consent to let him publish the exposé video on his channel. Meanwhile, Seo-won thinks about Hae-na’s comment about getting over Bo-kyeom. He greets Hae-na pleasantly at school.

However, that night, Hae-na meets her uncle whose health is deteriorating by the day. She wonders if telling Seo-won the truth about her condition would result in his cooperation in breaking the curse. Hae-na shows up at Seo-won’s house that night but finds Seo-won talking to Eun-hwan. Eun-hwan uses a spy camera pen to take a video of Seo-won, asking him questions about his girlfriend who turned into a dog.

Seo-won chastises Eun-hwan for not being able to attain much in his life after being a bully in high school. Eun-hwan tries to tease Seo-won about his fear of dogs and shows him the photo of him and Hae-na at the night market. Just then, Hae-na left to go back home as it was going to be midnight soon. Seo-won ignores Eun-hwan’s comment about Hae-na being a dog and leaves to go back home.

Hae-na runs into the basement of a building after transforming into a dog but leaves her clothes behind. Eun-hwan follows after her upon hearing a dog bark. He notices Hae-na’s belongings and takes them with him. Seo-won calls Hae-na but she is unable to answer it because she has already turned into a dog.

The next morning, Hae-na and Yu-na are looking for her belongings but aren’t able to find them anywhere. Hae-na is confused while Yu-na tells her that their mother is coming over to see them. Hae-na and Yu-na’s mother – Mi-sun notices that both girls are being awkward around her and senses something fishy. She waits until midnight to see which one of her daughters has kissed a man to trigger the curse.

Mi-sun finds out that it was Hae-na and asks Yu-na about it. Yu-na lies saying that the guy that triggered the curse was Hae-na’s boyfriend which prompts Mi-sun to invite the guy over for breakfast the morning after. Hae-na is shocked to see Yul at their doorstep the next morning wearing an oddly oversized suit. 

Yul pretends to be Hae-na’s boyfriend in front of Mi-sun and tries his best to impress Hae-na’s mother. At the same time, Seo-won tries using the help of YouTube tutorials to ask Hae-na out on a date. On the other hand, Hae-na, Yu-na and Yul lie their way throughout breakfast but Mi-sun wonders why Yul hadn’t tried to break the curse yet.

Yul’s attempts at impressing Hae-na’s mother make him realise that he has feelings for his teacher. Yul goes to a different room to answer Seo-won’s call where Mi-sun finds him and tries to coax him into kissing Hae-na that night. She threatens to hold Yul hostage until midnight which has Hae-na gets overwhelmed. She comes clean, telling her mother that Yul was not the guy that triggered the curse.

Hae-na leaves Yul at the gate and thanks him for his help. Yul invites Hae-na to join him on his lunch date with Seo-won. Hae-na agrees since it is Seo-won’s birthday and joins Yul for lunch with his uncle. Seo-won is delighted to see Hae-na and swoons over her but is confused by Yul’s appearance.

The trio have a meal together where Hae-na hands over a present to Seo-won. Seo-won makes a birthday wish and the three then go to an arcade to play games and take Photobooth photographs. Yul notices how Hae-na and Seo-won are clearly into each other as he is being left alone.

Yul gets his heart broken and decides to leave the two to themselves. On the other hand, Seo-won and Hae-na end up going to grab some drinks and Hae-na decides to tell Seo-won the truth about the curse. At the same time, Seo-won also tries to confess his feelings for Hae-na.

However, both try to muster some courage and start drinking shots of soju to gain some. The duo eventually gets drunk and leaves without confessing either of their secrets. On their way back, Hae-na takes the flower she gifted Seo-won for his birthday and plants it on the sidewalk before passing out on his shoulder.

Seo-won is mesmerized by Hae-na and eventually takes her home. The next day, Eun-hwan goes to Hae-na’s parents’ shop and tries to use another spy camera to expose the identities of Hae-na and Yu-na. Mi-sun shows up there and stops her husband from showing their daughters’ photos to a stranger.

He overhears their conversation from outside the store and learns that Mi-sun’s brother has also suffered a similar fate. He asks his friend to take his pet to Woo-taek’s clinic. While Woo-taek checks up on the dog, Eun-hwan’s friend plants a spy camera in the veterinary clinic. 

At school, Ji-ah casts a spell and sees Bo-kyeom in a hidden room and tries to find that place. She shows up at the locked basement room and tries to unlock it. Yul finds her there and talks to her about her recent premonition. He asks for her help in dealing with what the future holds for him and offers to try unlocking the door for her. Just then, Bo-kyeom shows up and wonders what the two are doing. Ji-ah takes Yul away, implying that the two are looking for a place to hook up.

That evening, Eun-hwan brings his friend to Garam High School and tries to interrogate a few students about Seo-won. Seo-won spots Eun-hwan fleeing when the vice principal of the school finds him talking to the students. Seo-won goes home and looks through Eun-hwan’s videos to find his address. He shows up to meet Eun-hwan but is taken back to his high school days when Eun-hwan and his friends bullied him.

Seo-won eventually finds Eun-hwan’s location and threatens him, asking him to stay away from him and Hae-na. Meanwhile, Hae-na tells Yu-na that she only has 10 more days to break the curse because it has been 90 days since her kiss with Seo-won. Yu-na reminds Hae-na how their mother had to bribe her ex-boyfriend to break the curse.

Eun-hwan shows up to meet Yu-na’s ex and purchases all the videos he had filmed of Yu-na during his relationship with her. Seo-won meets Hae-na on the opposite side of a crosswalk where he spots a mysterious man following her. The episode ends with Seo-won rushing to save Hae-na from the mysterious man.

The Episode Review

The show has progressed through the past 90 days of Hae-na’s curse in the last 7 episodes. This makes me worry about the next 7  that are left. From the looks of it, Eun-hwan trying to meddle into Hae-na’s business is going to eventually reveal the truth about the curse to Seo-won. 

While Seo-won likes Hae-na, I am concerned about his reaction when he finds out that the woman he loves is cursed to turn into an animal which gives him anxiety. The funniest part of this episode was Yul falling in love with Hae-na and getting his heart broken all in a matter of a few hours. I am hoping to see him with Ji-ah in the future but it looks like Ji-ah has a connection of her own with Bo-kyeom.
