A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023) Episode 12

Dec 29, 2023

Episode 12 of A Good Day To Be A Dog starts where we left off, with Hae-na and Seo-won running into each other. Seo-won is shocked to see Hae-na but she ignores him. Seo-won wonders why Hae-na has such an awkward reaction to him and rushes back to talk to her. Seo-won also rushes to meet Bo-kyeom and confronts him about Hae-na’s reaction.

Bo-kyeom reveals that he changed his mind about making Seo-won lose his memories of being in love with Hae-na. He states that instead, he wanted to see Seo-won suffer, prompting him to erase Hae-na’s memories of their relationship. Seo-won is heartbroken but tries to get through the day.

He recalls all of his and Hae-na’s memories at school from when they were a couple and thinks about the promise they made to each other at the beach. Seo-won goes on a mission to bring Hae-na’s memories back by giving her the cake she loved eating but the latter ends up giving the cake to her colleague.

Throughout the rest of the day, Seo-won tries to make Hae-na remember but she awkwardly ignores him. After school, Seo-won finds Hae-na at the bakery and is about to ask her to join him for a bite when Bo-kyeom shows and offers to drop her home.

At home, Hae-na and her family are shocked to see that Uncle Dong-cheol has turned back into a human. To her family, this is the first time they are seeing him back in his human form. Hae-na tells her mother that she will look through the family manuscripts to see how her uncle broke the curse without being kissed according to the criteria of the curse.

Hae-na goes to her room and is confused to see “Seo-Hae Couple” marked on her calendar. She wonders what it means. On the other hand, Yul too has no memory of Hae-na turning into a dog which only leaves Seo-won with memories of the past. The next day, Seo-won volunteers to have his class help Hae-na’s class as they clean the school corridor.

There, Hae-na is about to trip and fall while dusting a high window but Seo-won swoops in and catches her. The students tease the two and ask them to date. Ji-ah watches the two and talks to Yul about the two teachers dating but he is confused.

That day, Seo-won brings another cake for Hae-na but Bo-kyeom interrupts them and asks to talk to Hae-na privately. Hae-na ignores Seo-won and goes out to chat with Bo-kyeom instead. Seo-won watches Bo-kyeom fix Hae-na’s hair and gets even more riled up. He grabs Hae-na by the arm and takes her to the garden. Seo-won tells Hae-na he likes her but she rejects his feelings.

Later that, Seo-won notices Hae-na chatting with Bo-kyeom and gets angry seeing them laugh together. Seo-won finds Bo-kyeom in the break room and confronts him for what he is doing. Seo-won starts punching Bo-kyeom but Hae-na shows up there and pushes Seo-won off, leading him to cut his hand from a broken glass.

Seo-won sits outside in the garden where he imagines a Hae-na from the past asking him not to give up on her yet. Seo-won decides to keep trying to bring Hae-na’s memories back. Hae-na dresses the wound on Bo-kyeom’s lips when he asks her to date him.

Later that night, Yul barges into Seo-won’s bedroom and asks him if he is dating Hae-na. He tells his uncle that Ji-ah was talking about the two being in a relationship. Seo-won learns that Ji-ah still has memories from before Bo-kyeom’s reset and wonders why.

At the same time, Hae-na tells Yu-na that Bo-kyeom asked her out and reveals that because of her curse, she has decided to go out on 3 dates before making it official with him. She starts to tell her sister about Seo-won but stops. The next day, Seo-won confronts Ji-ah and talks to her about her memories. He does not say much though, and asks her to go back to class.

Seo-won then learns that Hae-na is now dating Bo-kyeom. The day goes by with Bo-kyeom and Hae-na having a combined class that Ji-ah is a part of. She is touched by the poem read out by the history teacher and confronts him at his hideout. She asks why he resents Hae-na and Seo-won so much and asks if something happened to her alter-ego in their past life.

Bo-kyeom does not answer Ji-ah’s question and goes inside. Ji-ah then talks to the Vice Principal and convinces him to reveal the location of Cho-young’s death from the past. Meanwhile, Yu-na and Woo-taek have a conversation about their almost kiss when they go to the village.

Yu-na tells the vet that they are just friends and tries to run away from him. Woo-taek tells Yu-na that she feels differently about her which pushes Yu-na to kiss him before leaving the room out of embarrassment.

At school, Song-yi teases Hae-na about her upcoming date with Bo-kyeom. Seo-won overhears the conversation and gets jealous. He decides to show up at the movie theatre and keeps an eye on Bo-kyeom and Hae-na who seem to be enjoying their date.

Outside the cinema hall, Hae-na spots Seo-won and wonders how he too was at the same cinema. Without letting them talk anymore, Bo-kyeom takes Hae-na home. There, Hae-na sees Yu-na and Woo-taek walking hand-in-hand which leaves her shocked. Hae-na tries to confront Yu-na about her date with Woo-taek but the older sister leaves the room without answering Hae-na’s questions.

The next day at school, Hae-na makes small talk with Seo-won. Seo-won tells Hae-na that he did not enjoy the movie as much because his date bailed on him and went to the movies with someone else. This leaves Hae-na thinking. On the other hand, Ji-ah takes Yul’s help to find the location of Cho-young’s death.

Together, Ji-ah, Yul and Joon-seo hatch a plan to go trekking to find the spot. That evening, Hae-na notices Seo-won’s desk calendar in the staff room, and reads “Seo-Hae Couple” marked on the same date as it was in her calendar. She meets Seo-won outside school and asks him about “Seo-Hae”. He offers to take Hae-na to a place called “Seo-Hae” and tells her about the dog keychain.

Hae-na is weirded out by the conversation and leaves to go back home. There, she sees Yu-na and Woo-taek laughing as they walk hand-in-hand and is reminded of doing the same with Seo-won. She brushes the thought away while confronting Yu-na and Woo-taek about their relationship.

The following day, Bo-kyeom and Hae-na go on a date. The Vice Principal sends Bo-kyeom a photo of Ji-ah and the boys on their hiking trip. At the same time, Ji-ah tells Yul how Hae-na has lost memories of dating Seo-won. Yul gets an idea and calls Hae-na, asking her to drop by his house due to an emergency.

Hae-na gets worried for the student and bails on her date with Bo-kyeom. Bo-kyeom wonders what Seo-won was up to as he was aware that Yul was not home. Hae-na shows up at Yul’s house and enters the house by entering the passcode. She finds Seo-won in the kitchen and is shocked.

Seo-won gets a text from Yul where he asks Seo-won to take his chance with Hae-na. Seo-won tells Hae-na that he is Yul’s uncle and asks her to hang out for a while. On the other hand, Ji-ah finds the location of Cho-young’s death and all her memories from the past resurface.

The episode ends with Hae-na wondering why Seo-won’s house felt familiar to her. Seo-won tries to remind Hae-na by kissing her but she pushes him back and leaves the apartment.

The Episode Review

This episode had so much going on and I wonder just how much will be resolved on in the final two episodes. The makers are ruining the show with the staggered airing schedule because this seems to be the first K-dramas where Eun-woo is making an effort with his acting.

It looks like Bo-kyeom has seen how this story ends which is why Hae-na leaving their date did not bother him as much. Seeing Seo-won struggling to remind Hae-na of their romantic memories together was painful yet funny in some places. I hope Yul also finds someone, but we’ll have to agonizingly wait for the next episode to find out.
