A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023) Episode 11

Dec 22, 2023

Episode 11 of A Good Day To Be A Dog starts with Bo-kyeom entering Woo-taek’s clinic where he puts Hae-na’s uncle, who has turned into a dog, to rest. Hae-na’s family bursts into tears as Woo-taek is not able to resuscitate the human-turned-dog. The next morning, Ji-ah shows up at Bo-kyeom’s trailer and calls him the Mountain God.

Ji-ah tries to bring up memories of her past life but Bo-kyeom asks her to dismiss the thoughts. Ji-ah’s words remind Bo-kyeom of Cho-young but he does not pay much heed to her.

On the other hand, Hae-na’s family get ready to bid Uncle Dong-cheol farewell forever. To their surprise and confusion, Dong-cheol turns into a human all of a sudden. The family members try to get Dong-cheol used to using his hands to eat and drink like a human. The group tries to determine who caused Dong-cheol to turn back into a human.

Dong-cheol talks to his nieces about the curse and wonders what Hae-na was doing wearing the bracelet that smelled like a dog. Hae-na and Yu-na look through the ancient literature in their house to figure out how Dong-cheol turned back into a human. Hae-na ends up finding a note that has a mention of The Mountain God.

That night, Bo-kyeom finds Hae-na and tries to warn her. He turns Yu-na into a dog for a moment to threaten her. Bo-kyeom asks Hae-na to think over her life and reveals that he was in her life for a long time. Hae-na goes through her childhood photos and sees an adult Bo-kyeom in them. She recalls how Bo-kyeom hadn’t aged a day since he had offered them a snack when they were kids.

The next day, Hae-na tells Seo-won all about the picture of Bo-kyeom from years ago. At school, Ji-ah absent-mindedly shows up at Bo-kyeom’s cave and ends up seeing the Vice Principal in his natural fox-tailed habitat. The Vice Principal tells Bo-kyeom that he is worried about Ji-ah learning the truth.

Bo-kyeom runs into Seo-won who confronts him about his photo with young Hae-na. Bo-kyeom teases Seo-won and asks him to be a good kid which reminds him of a memory from his childhood. Seo-won recalls seeing Bo-kyeom as his present self when he was still a child.

Back then, Bo-kyeom had sent a huge dog to attack Seo-won but had ended up saving the latter using his magic. Present-day Bo-kyeom asks Seo-won to wait and learn the truth about everything at the right time. Meanwhile, Yu-na joins Woo-taek in his free pet examination camp at a local village.

With Woo-taek forgetting to book their return ferry tickets, the two are forced to stay in the village. At the same time, Mi-sun buys her brother a new phone and asks him to call someone with it. When Dong-cheol tries to call his ex, who didn’t break his curse, Mi-sun gets mad and chases after him.

However, she is petrified when she sees her brother turn into a dog all over again. Hae-na learns about the return of her uncle’s curse and tries to talk to Bo-kyeom. Bo-kyeom calls her by her ancient name and reminds her about the day that The Mountain God cursed Mak-soon.

After killing Soo-hyun, the Mountain God finally gets to Mak-soon and was going to kill her. However, Mak-soon begs for mercy for her unborn child. The Mountain God decides to let Mak-soon live but casts an unending curse that would generations after generations that come after Mak-soon.

Present-day Bo-kyeom tells Hae-na that he was willing to break the curse but he had a condition. He reveals that after breaking the curse, things will go back to the way they were and Seo-won will no longer have feelings for her. Bo-kyeom gives Hae-na a choice between changing her family’s fate or having a happily ever after with her lover.

Seo-won learns about Bo-kyeom’s warning and rushes to his trailer to warn him off. Bo-kyeom mocks Seo-won for his past actions. However, Seo-won claims that he loves Hae-na dearly and would still find his way back to her.

The next day, Hae-na and Seo-won spend what could be their last day as a couple. The two take a trip to the beach to celebrate their love for each other. Seo-won tells Hae-na that he’s always had feelings for her which means that nothing could bring them apart. He asks her to choose her family and get the curse reversed. A flashback shows how Soo-hyun has fallen in love with Mak-soon in the ancient period.

Cho-young’s support eventually leads Soo-hyun to confess his feelings for Mak-soon. Eventually, Mak-soon falls pregnant but the Judge asks Soo-hyun to kill Cho-young, which complicates the matters.

Three months after escaping with Cho-young, Mak-soon tries to get in touch with Soo-hyun, who has been captured by the Judge. Soo-hyun learns about Mak-soon’s pregnancy and tries to save her. However, Mak-soon seemingly tells the Judge where Cho-young is hiding to save Soo-hyun’s life.

Back to the present day, Hae-na and Seo-won go back to work normally. However, Hae-na seems to have forgotten Seo-won instead of the other way around.

The Episode Review

It looks like the drama is getting a lot less interesting because of the way the episodes are being aired. I wish the makers would have stuck to the original 2-episode per week format which wouldn’t have stretched that show so much. So far though, the way this episode ended looks interesting.

We can see that Hae-na revealed the truth about Cho-young’s whereabouts to the Judge, who eventually had her killed but there is a huge portion missing. We may see the truth about what happened when Soo-hyun and Mak-soon found Cho-young.

From how the episode ends, it is also clear that Hae-na has no memory of Seo-won instead of it being the other way around. This complicates things quite a bit and I am hopeful to see more of Seo-won/Soo-hyun’s past as the final 3 episodes of the show air in the weeks to come.
