5 Times Moon Sang Min & Jeon Jong Seo Tried Not To Fall In Love In Episodes 3-4 Of “Wedding Impossible”

Mar 11, 2024

“Wedding Impossible” is moving fast and in the best of ways. The drama’s premiere week had Na Ah Jung (Jeon Jong Seo) and Lee Ji Han (Moon Sang Min) walking away with the worst impressions of each other. But that’s about to change quickly. Ji Han’s determined to ensure that Ah Jung’s wedding plans with his brother Lee Do Han (Kim Do Wan) don’t happen by any means necessary. Ah Jung is just as determined to hold onto the lifeline before her. But their decisions end up surprising them both this week as they find themselves caring about the last people they want to: each other.

Note: spoilers for episodes 3-4 of below.

1. Ji Han making the drama crew member apologize

It’s always so fun when the guy falls first, and that’s what we have here! Ji Han feel incredibly bad about the stunt he pulled with trying to get Ah Jung a major role in a drama production by pulling strings. Ah Jung’s heartbreak when she finds out that it wasn’t her skill that got her there and that someone else was fired to make way for her in this position haunts him. The previous actress gets the role back, and Ji Han’s still trying to figure out how to make it up to Ah Jung (and get her to take back agreeing to marry his brother) when he overhears a crew member from the drama insult the returning actress and lamenting that Ah Jung left. It sounds good up until there, but he starts to diss Ah Jung’s professionalism for leaving set, and Ji Han sees red, knowing that he was the reason for this. He trips the man a few times and orders him to apologize to Ah Jung for what he’s been spouting behind her back.

Beside Ji Han, his first love and the woman he’s trying to marry his brother off to, Yoon Chae Won (Bae Yoon Kyung), is bewildered at how much Ji Han seems to care about Ah Jung. Of course, Ji Han doesn’t see it that way.

Meanwhile, a clueless Ah Jung and Do Han draw up a contract that their fake marriage will last three years. To his credit, Do Han asks if she’s really sure about this. Ah Jung says she is. She may have reached out because of Ji Han, but she’s also given it a lot of thought. Getting involved with a chaebol family is risky, but she’s spent her whole life working hard to no avail. She hasn’t gotten anywhere. This time, for the first time in her life, she gets to take center stage with her best friend, with someone whose loyalty she doesn’t have to doubt. The two agree to act obnoxious as heck so that Do Han’s grandfather Hyun Dae Ho (Kwon Hae Hyo) won’t approve of the marriage, and they can “elope” to New York where Do Han doesn’t have to stay in the closet and Ah Jung has the financial freedom to breathe easy. That is, until granddaddy approves.

2. Ji Han announcing that he intends to seduce Ah Jung

Hyun Dae Ho must be desperate for a decent heir. But instead of giving Ji Han the role, he insists on Do Han, to the point of approving the marriage, much to Ji Han and Do Han’s scheming half-siblings’ fury. Ji Han’s horrified at this turn of events and comes up with his own plan. He’ll seduce Ah Jung and make her break up with his brother, thus freeing Do Han to marry Chae Won. Ji Han really needs a therapist at this point because this level of manipulation and control over his brother’s life is not okay. But at least he doesn’t manipulate Ah Jung. He immediately informs her of this plan. Hilariously, she’s all, “Sure, go ahead.”

Ji Han looks like he’s going to die of embarrassment. He tries to make her swoon then and there in every conceivable way, but it’s only when he wraps his jacket around her that she seems to feel something and immediately throws it off. Interesting. Do Han, of course, doesn’t have a clue. But for these two, it’s currently open season.

3. Ah Jung worrying about Ji Han

Ji Han’s looks, wealth, and attempts to smolder might not have done much for Ah Jung, but what did was seeing him being assaulted by his half-siblings. They appear to blame him for their mother’s death in a car wreck, but we don’t know why. Ah Jung can’t take it when his half-sister Choi Seung Ah (Park Ah In) slaps and scars him, and she steps in to prevent another blow. She obsesses over it at home, wondering why she feels incredibly bad for him. Oh, these two, stepping to prevent others from verbally or physically abusing them, then insisting that they don’t care about each other.

But Ji Han is on the warpath now, using every inch of skill and intelligence to draw up a battle plan for how to make Ah Jung fall in love with him. She still thinks it’s hilarious and agrees when he offers to take her out on a date just to see if it’ll work. But Ji Han has much more planned than she could dream of.

4. Ji Han and Ah Jung’s revenge date

Going to the movies for a first date and having dinner is a pretty great idea, and Ah Jung’s down for it. But she finds out that “going” means taking a flight to Busan with the entire first-class cabin booked just for them, “movies” means the Busan Film Festival, and “dinner” means the most expensive restaurant in the city. Ji Han’s even purchased a one-of-a-kind dress for her and arranged for her to meet the director, of whom Ah Jung’s a long-time fan.

It’s the latter which begins to move Ah Jung, the other stuff is just him throwing money around from her point of view, but taking the time to research a director she liked and arranging a meeting is a big deal. Ah Jung’s on the way to agreeing that Ji Han’s not a bad guy. Then, she sees the big picture. Throughout their day, Hong Na Ri (Joo Hyun Young), Ah Jung’s former acting school classmate and major movie star, has been in the background. Na Ri’s never liked Ah Jung and made sure to rub her popularity in Ah Jung’s face whenever they meet. It was her who got Ah Jung kicked off a drama during the premiere episodes, and Ji Han was around to witness how Ah Jung was treated. So he decided to give her revenge.

First, he buys up the one-of-a-kind dress that Na Ri wanted, which Ah Jung wears to the film festival and when meeting the director she was a fan of. Next, he reserves an entire restaurant for his and Ah Jung’s dinner, the same one Na Ri hoped to eat at. Afterwards, he books the same penthouse hotel suite that Na Ri wanted, ensuring that no matter what floor Na Ri stays on in the hotel, Ah Jung will be higher than her. And he arrives as Na Ri is belittling Ah Jung to ensure that Na Ri knows all of it—that she isn’t Ah Jung’s equal. It’s so utterly swoon-worthy, especially because he freely admits to Ah Jung that he can’t pretend that he loves her during this game of seduction just to lure her in. But he can give her revenge instead.

Ah Jung’s about 30 percent into him right after hearing that, and she goes up to 50 percent when she hears that he genuinely watched every show she was in to know her better. Only her parents have ever bothered with that, and the fact that Ji Han remembers every detail and is being this oddly genuine about what they both know is a game is mind-blowing to her. They drink together again and sleep separately but in the same room (which is a lovely organic storytelling choice here, rather than have them wake up in the same bed). And both of them are a little shaken.

5. Ji Han showing up for Ah Jung

Ji Han now has another problem. This game he started is getting a little too realistic. At his secretary’s suggestion, he decides to enlist a blind date for Ah Jung instead. Perhaps they’ll hit it off instead, and she won’t marry Do Han. He picks up someone he thinks will be perfect for her and goes for a meal with Chae Won to see if she’s still down to marry Do Han, for business reasons of course. But he’s antsy throughout, and Chae Won notices. Meanwhile, Ah Jung gets a text from Ji Han scheduling another dinner, and she hilariously heads out immediately, complaining all the while that he keeps telling her to come and go while reapplying her makeup. Girl. She’s supposed to register her marriage with Do Han in court that day (Ji Han doesn’t know or he’d run over to splay out on the courthouse’s stairs to stop them). But Ah Jung waits, and Ji Han doesn’t show. After a while, someone else does. At the same time, Ji Han hears from a friend that the date he scheduled for Ah Jung didn’t show after realizing that she was a nobody. Instead, a rather nasty acquaintance of his came instead. And our guy rushes over to her immediately.

Ah Jung’s getting uncomfortable with the fact that Ji Han’s friend keeps mocking him and that he’s demanding to sleep with her and for her to drink more. What’s worth noting here is that Ji Han has been here for a little bit now. He watches them and even tries to calm himself in the bathroom. He could just get Ah Jung out of this tight spot in an emotionless manner. But no, he storms up and downs a whole bottle of alcohol, insinuates that she’s his, and leads her out of the restaurant. Whew. And the best part? Ah Jung doesn’t care about the male posturing.

She’s angry that he allows the people around him to treat him that way. And he’s angry that his acquaintance insulted her. They’re both angry on each other’s behalf, and they both have no clue why. She mutters that he shouldn’t be on her side when he hates her, and he fires back that he must like her then to be this angry for her. And that’s 2-0 for Ji Han with our second confession of the week! And of course, he collapses onto her.

This drama is fun. There are flaws of course. These characters are quite gray. Ji Han’s controlling his brother’s life for reasons no one understands. Do Han’s ex is sabotaging his home because Do Han seems to have abandoned him when he was assaulted. And Ah Jung is spending time with Ji Han without informing Do Han of what she’s up to with his brother when it affects all three of their reputations. Things could get real messy in the coming weeks. But for now, they’re cute. So cute!
