4 Things To Keep An Eye Out For In First Episode Of “YG Treasure Box”

Nov 16, 2018

The “treasures” of “YG Treasure Box” will soon be fully unveiled!
The survival show released various clips of their 29 trainees on their official V Live channel, as well as teasers for the show. Not only will YG Entertainment be revealing their hidden “treasures” on the show, but viewers and fans will become “treasure makers” as they rewatch and like videos on the channel, helping their favorite trainees debut. Ahead of the show’s first episode, here are four things to look forward to.

1. YG’s business secrets

“YG Treasure Box” will differ from other debut survival programs as it will unearth the company’s internal system and know-how in producing music, as well as an unfiltered debut process. The agency has a history of creating successful boy groups such as Jinusean, 1TYM, BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON. From casting trainees to auditioning, physical training, monthly evaluations, and the producing process; the show will reveal the process in which YG’s unique internal system produces a global idol group.

2. YG’s treasure box finally opens

All of the male trainees who have honed their skills for a long time inside the treasure box will be revealed. Previously, Yang Hyun Suk shared, “‘YG Treasure Box’ will be revealing every single one of the male trainees that haven’t been revealed before. Viewers will be able to judge and choose after watching the show. [The group] will be formed based on their votes.”

3. The birth of a new YG boy group after four years

“YG Treasure Box” marks four years since the company last produced a boy group. One common aspect that BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON share is that they all debuted through survival programs. The upcoming show will be an extension of this tradition. Yang Hyun Suk commented, “Including 2013’s ‘K-Pop Star”‘s runner-up Bang Ye Dam, there are a lot of trainees that have sweated for a long time to debut. I believe that next year is the best time to debut a YG rookie boy group.”

4. The conditions for debut and number of members

In a teaser, it was revealed that the goal was to create a boy group that had both visuals as well as skills. Yang Hyun Suk remarked, “Right now, skills are a given. I want to create a group with people that have physical and external charms as well as star quality. I started out with plans for a five-member group, but after watching the show’s progress, I will decide again.”
“YG Treasure Box” will consist of 10 episodes. The show will air its first episode on November 16 at 10 p.m. KST on V Live, and then air two hours later on JTBC and YouTube. Special videos, that will not be aired in the episodes, will also be revealed on the trainees’ individual V Live channels.
