Watch: Kim Min Kyu, Go Bo Gyeol, Lee Jang Woo, And More Share Reasons To Anticipate “The Heavenly Idol” At Script Reading

tvN’s upcoming drama “The Heavenly Idol” shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the script reading!

Adapted from a popular webtoon and web novel, “The Heavenly Idol” tells the story of High Priest Rembrary who one day suddenly finds himself in the body of unknown idol Woo Yeon Woo, a member of the group Wild Animal. Kim Min Kyu stars as both High Priest Rembrary and idol Woo Yeon Woo.

At the drama’s first script reading, director Park So Yeon and writer Lee Chun Geum gathered with cast members Kim Min Kyu, Go Bo Gyeol, Lee Jang Woo, Ye Ji Won, and more for the first time.

During the interview, Kim Min Kyu talks about the upcoming drama, sharing, “It’s a humanistic drama that shows the coming-of-age stories [of High Priest Rembrary and idol Woo Yeon Woo] as they face many problems from the body switch.”

Go Bo Gyeol plays Wild Animal’s road manager Kim Dal who is also Woo Yeon Woo’s No. 1 fan. The actress energetically remarks, “We didn’t know what viewers would like, so I’ve prepared everything.”

Lee Jang Woo will take on the role of Shin Jo Woon who is possessed by the King of Darkness. He comments, “There isn’t one single word that describes our production because the story takes place in this world as well as various other worlds. It is a fusion fantasy rom-com and romance drama, so there are many aspects that viewers can enjoy.”

Furthermore, Ye Ji Won plays Lim Sun Ja, the head of Wild Animal’s agency. Hong Seung Bum, Shin Myung Sung, Choi Jae Hyun, and Shin Kyu Hyun will be taking on the roles of Wild Animal members Choi Jung Seo, Hwang Tae In, Cathy, and Cha Hae Gyeol, respectively.
