Recap Korean Drama "Adamas" Episode 7

Aug 17, 2022

Adamas episode 7 starts with Team A Leader Lee figuring out that Woo-sin has taken up a job at Haesong and sending someone to pay a visit to his house. Going back to the ending of the last episode, when So-hyun and Seo-hee discover this mysterious person outside the apartment and she asks him what they should do now.

The repairman tells him that the apartment below him has complained about a leak in his unit and even calls up the landlord to corroborate his story. After she gets into an accident, the audience is made aware that everything that is happening here has been created by SIH to use Su-hyeon as the bait to get Team A.

Meanwhile, at Haesong, Ms Oh questions Woo-sin’s intentions of sneaking around at night the last night. She asks him what he does going around alone, and he lies that he wanted to take a sip of a limited edition cognac the other night. Everyone is taken aback, but at least it’s not as bad as wanting to steal the Adamas.

At Woo-sin’s place, Su-hyeon realises that the repairman isn’t all that he seems to be and incapacitates him the moment his guard is down. Seo-hee asks what will happen if they are wrong about him but Su-hyeon isn’t convinced and keeps hitting him. Seeing this, Mr Baek runs from the opposite building to save him. The moment he reaches their flat, Seo-hee asks what took the SIH this long to get to them and whether they were using them for bait.

Having had enough, Su-hyeon and Seo-hee ask Hyuk-pil to stop trying to fool them and to take them to HQ after finding the communication device among the ‘repairman’s’ things. With no other alternatives, Hyuk-pil obliges. Meanwhile, Leader Lee mentions that it’s good that SIH got to Su-hyeon first; now, they can just follow them to find Su-hyeon. He orders Section Chief Jung to handle the problem on his own and later comes to a shocking realisation.

At Haesong, Tae-sung is a little confused to learn that Woo-sin specifically asked Mr Kim to let him know when Hye-soo would arrive, while she looks rather morose to be back. She meets Woo-sin the moment she comes back – the Adamas is not here and is at the jewellers. Woo-sin seems to know everything that Hye-soo wanted to tell him, and when asked what his plans are, he mentions that he needs to find the arrow before it is recrafted.

He also tells her what happened with Ms Oh that evening, and she will do anything for money. In lieu of the money, Ms Oh lets it slip to Woo-sin that Ms Yoon was the one who recommended him to the chairman, which takes him by surprise. Hye-soo laughs when she hears this from Woo-sin and mentions that she’s the reason why he was recommended.

Meanwhile, Ms Yoon looks absolutely shocked and scared out of her mind when she gets a bouquet of flowers from her sister Sun. Meanwhile, Sun seems to be a rather eccentric woman who asks Woo-sin’s action figure from years before who his owner is because she would have to kill him! At Haesong, Hye-soo finally tells Woo-sin, and us, about her relationship with Min-jo and the relationship between Min-jo’s murder and Chang-woo.

In the end, Hye-soo mentions that she and Woo-sin are after the same thing, punishing Chairman Kwon. After she mentions that Min-jo died while finding out the mystery behind his father’s death, Woo-sin mentions that he isn’t Min-jo and neither is he a substitute for him. Thus, they are not after the same thing – he isn’t looking to exact revenge on Jae-kyu.

Meanwhile, Leader Lee reports to Jae-kyu that Su-hyeon is looking into the 22-year-old murder case, which Chairman Kwon finds quite interesting. He mentions that it doesn’t matter that he’s looking into it; they only need to get rid of the evidence… as well as Seo-hee. Later, Su-hyeon and Seo-hee are taken to SIH HQ, where they discuss Team A. Much to Hyuk-pil’s surprise, the previously never-before-seen Leader Lee has been spotted by Su-hyeon and Seo-hee.

Later, Leader Lee goes to meet Sun, who is a rather odd woman. She seems rather infatuated with the idea of having to kill people and is heartbroken and scarily angry when Leader Lee mentions that she can’t kill Woo-sin under any circumstance. Meanwhile, Hyuk-pil seems a little delighted at finding out that Team A has had a hand in almost every crime in one way or another and an annoyed Su-hyeon berates him for letting Woo-sin into Haesong in spite of knowing that it was dangerous for him.

Meanwhile, Woo-sin and Tae-sung discuss what the former discovered in Ms Kwon’s bedroom and tries to figure out what binds her with the chairman. Woo-sin surmises that it must be something more than blind obedience – it’s more like her protective instinct. Tae-sung doesn’t believe this but does point him to Ms Oh.

Ms Oh, interestingly, has a lot of insight into Ms Kwon and Jae-kyu’s relationship, which has been forged for years between the two since they practically grew up together. As the money keeps getting added, Ms Oh mentions that she thinks of the chairman as his son because when the chairman had a heart transplant, the donor was Ms Kwon’s son.

Ms Kwon’s son tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from the tree in front of her window, ended up brain dead and had his heart donated. The revelation is a lot for Woo-sin, who, for the lack of a better word, can’t take this seriously. However, he does end up wondering about this newfound information and goes to Hye-soo that night, who finally adds two and two together.

Her father must’ve struck a deal with the chairman to get her to become a daughter-in-law. Thus, her father was so adamant that she marry Hyun-jo as soon as possible – he even talked about doing the chairman a huge favour. Hye-soo absolutely furious while Woo-sin realises that the suicide was staged.

Come to think of it, Hye-soo remembers how, on the night of her wedding, Hyun-jo had mentioned that he was forced to marry her; otherwise, he would’ve ended up like Min-jo. He further mentioned that there was no way she’d be able to do anything about it – their father did kill him for not falling in line. In the present, Hye-soo looks like she is ready to stab someone.

At SIH, Su-hyeon and Seo-hee attempt a daring escape but are caught by Hyuk-pil, who just simply lets him out and asks him to accompany him to eat. They discuss what will happen if Hwang Byung-cheol is elected to office – they will kill Hyuk-pil first in order to set an example. Thus, his numbers are limited, considering the state of affairs in the country. Both Hyuk-pil and Ms Lee create a great case for themselves and successfully get Su-hyeon and Seo-hee on their side.

As Su-hyeon mentions that he needs to check in on Chang-woo soon, the latter gets jumped on by a security guard in prison. In a flashback, we see Leader Lee murdering the twins’ father thanks to a simple misunderstanding on Lee’s part and Soon-ho being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Adamas Episode 7 Review

Still From Adamas Episode 7

Adamas is back again with another rather thrilling episode, and this time around, we get some genuinely shocking revelations. From Min-jo to Ms Kwon’s son, there’s a lot going on under the covers in the show that will keep audiences glued to the screen.

Although we knew that Min-jo didn’t just die in a helicopter accident, the different pieces of the puzzle coming together make finding out about it officially a rather sad affair. You feel for Hye-soo, someone who is simply being used by her father as a commodity to get some upper hand. Meanwhile, at some point, I also feel for Hyun-jo, who is probably too afraid for his own life to do anything other than what his father tells him.

Meanwhile, Su-hyeon continues to be a force of nature, breaking things and screaming at people when he doesn’t get his way. It’s entertaining watching him throwing tantrums and then realising that he might have overreacted. Meanwhile, Woo-sin seems to be the more thoughtful and calculative one. It’s a treat to watch these two brothers close in on the different suspects to give the audience a complete picture.

All the characters in the story are rather mysterious and interesting, and I am pretty sure there’s more to it than meets the eye. But till now, Adamas has been a slow-burn and delightfully twisty watch, and I am waiting patiently for more things to come to light. Moreover, I am extremely excited to watch Sun’s character – she shows promise!

One thing that I must mention – why do Lee Kyoung-young’s characters always deal with some form of illegal heart transplants? A shockingly similar situation took place in Doctor Lawyer, which just completed its run the week before this Kdrama started. It’s so weird that he gets to play similar roles.
