Kim Woo Bin’s new movie “Alienoid” was recently released in theaters. It is a two-part film about the happenings that occur when a mysterious time portal opens and connects Taoists from the Goryeo Dynasty searching for a legendary sword with people in 2022 chasing down an alien prisoner that’s been imprisoned in a human’s body.

The film is directed by Choi Dong Hoon and boasts a star-studded cast, including Ryu Jun Yeol, Kim Woo Bin, Kim Tae Ri, So Ji Sub, Honey Lee, Yeom Jung Ah, Jo Woo Jin, Kim Eui Sung, Shin Jung Geun, and Lee Si Hoon.

In 2017, Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, and he returned to his activities in 2019. As soon as Kim Woo Bin announced his return, he received many project offers from different producers, including directors Choi Dong Hoon (“Alienoid”) and Cho Eui Seok (“Black Knight”). Kim Woo Bin is now enjoying a busy life as an actor, and he shared, “I’m really grateful. I came back and am working in a healthy condition like before.”

Kim Woo Bin talked about the first day he filmed “Alienoid,” saying, “I can’t forget the air of that day. I filmed in a welcoming atmosphere.” However, he also had to wear a full body spandex suit from the first shoot, and he admitted, “I was extremely flustered. It happened to me small too.”

Kim Woo Bin also mentioned tvN’s “Our Blues,” which was his first return to the small screen in six years. He commented, “I was happy living as Park Jung Joon [his character’s name]. It was also a time to reflect on myself. Thanks to the script, I was healed a lot.”

Kim Woo Bin also brought up his upcoming Netflix series “Black Knight” starring Esom and Kang You Seok.

Based on a webtoon, “Black Knight” takes place in 2071 where pollution has become so severe that people can’t survive without respirators and tells of the story that unfolds as legendary delivery knight 5-8 (Kim Woo Bin), who has extraordinary fighting skills, meets refugee Sa Wol (Kang You Seok), who dreams of becoming a delivery knight because they are the refugees’ only hope. As Korea undergoes desertification, the remaining 1 percent of humanity has become stratified, and delivery knights have come to play an extremely important role in society.

Kim Woo Bin previously played the “top dog of the school” many times, and in “Black Knight,” he will also play someone who is at the top of the ladder. Concerning his role as 5-8, he remarked, “I’ve played the role of the top dog several times, so I’m confident in this area. I’ve been the top dog at school many times, but it’s my first time being the top dog as an adult.”

It’s already been 15 years since Kim Woo Bin debuted, and he has been writing a thank-you diary every day in order to not forget the gratitude he has had since his early days. He explained, “I started writing because I wanted to keep the gratitude for a longer time. I started this career with absolutely nothing. Luckily, from the beginning, I received a lot of bigger things than I had. I didn’t want to forget my appreciation for that.”
